Just wondered as they were discussing the fact that a pint is 40 p more at an FC game than a City one the other night on RH Sportstalk. Didn't catch the beginning so I don't who it was but someone with experience of refreshment franchises at sporting events said this was probably because they weren't selling as much at FC games.
He said you might expect that if sales were down they would drop the prices to try and sell more but they go down the route of upping prices to bring the amount they want from the same sales.

this is the whole divisive problem of the Allam ownership, he makes everyone feel like victims of one sort or another - it is the classic trait of a bully - show him for what he is, challenge the arrogant ****e.

You can't seriously be suggesting that the mutual dislike between Hull City and Hull FC is down to Dr Allam? Is it his fault a huge chunk of the ****ers "support" Liverpool or Leeds and have wished us nowt but bad luck for as long as I can remember?

    <laugh>

    That's brilliant.

Unless you believe it, in which case that's ****ing scary.

Part of the problem is that their forum is quite limited, and views that don't fit their version of the situation tend to get threads closed or posters banned, so I've never bothered trying. I know quite a few fc fans that won't post on there because of it.

The odd time one of them has plucked up the nerve to post on here, they've struggled when their 'facts' are looked at more closely, blinded by the light of reality.

I know fc fans are looking in, feel free to sign up on here. It'd be good to see where the common ground is, rather than just highlighting the polarised elements.

I think the maths don't work because of the way you've tried to break it down. I suspect the figures relate to annual totals, which don't reduce evenly on a game by game basis.

You may very well be right and I don't think either of us have the time to read through the accounts to find out the intricate details.

Your completely right about that forum, its the same core of 10-20 posters, all who have very similar opinions and are protected by mods who will close threads, delete posts and ban people if their opinions don't suit.

    Absolutely pointless!

AP's on AA hate list, he comes second only to Terry Geraghty and he looks for any opportunity to piss him off, it's just another example of his petty vindictiveness.

All true, but they said FIRST 6 years and you've listed the LAST 6 years, small point I know, but worth mentioning!

It's still wrong, the average in the first six years was 17,390.

No they don't. I post on there and have done for a couple of years and my opinion is mine. I don't get involved in City threads on there. Well once !- when OLM needed a little support a while back. At that time though I wasn't on here but my wife was.

It's certainly a view that's held by fc fans I know. I can only base it on the few threads I've read, but they certainly seem to confirm their opinions.

It's perhaps not as apparent now as people just don't bother with it, which is a shame and just concretes in the narrow opinions.

Here you are then, the first 6 seasons-

    2003-04 Division 3. 16,846
    2004-05 League One. 18,027
    2005-06.Championship 19,841
    2006-07 Championship 18,583
    2007-08 Championship 18,024
    2008-09 PL. 24,816

Add those up,and divide by 6 and the average was 19,356. Maybe someone should explain to some Hull fans how averages work and that if the lowest figure is 16,846 and the highest is 24,816 then you can't have an average less than the lower figure.
Interesting to compare the crowds outside the top flight to Hull FC's highest ever average of 14,000.
It all shows with far more home games in a season with higher crowds at them who is more important to the KC and those Hull fans who dream of City moving or going bust and them having the place to themselves are living in cloud cuckoo land.

It's unlikely I'd understand them even if I read them, and experts seem to draw different conclusions from the same accounts. It's also dependent on which sums are used as part of which segment of the operation.

As you touch on in that reply, averages aren't necessarily the right way to compare, especially as there's a price difference too. I suspect gate receipts, or simply total numbers in the ground per season would show an even bigger gap.

You do get" mentioned in despatches" by some on there from time to time so you did make an impression for the brief time you posted.

Ah oops, I meant the fans of the respective clubs, seeing as Fez was talking about the fans divided thing again. In my head that was clear but I can see how it could be taken to mean the actual clubs.

Obviously the dislike between certain quarters of City/FC's support pre-dates AA by several decades, but he is adding fuel to the fire.

For a lot it started with the Brentford game in 1980 and then intensified with the FC bandwagon jumpers who still wanted to be associated with the country's premier sport so, as the local team wasn't doing well, adopted some club they had no connection with. A bit like a City fan fed up with the underachievement, despite being big fish in a puddle, of our local rugby teams deciding they support a rugby team from elsewhere. Except I have never seen a car with a City sticker alongside a St Helens, Leeds Rhinos or Wigan one. Or groups of fans sat in pubs talking about those clubs as "us" or "we" and hoping their local club get beaten.
