Yeah, thought Gerrard was a bit too honest in saying how he thought Mario was disrespecting to Henderson etc... Fair enough say it behind closed doors in the changing room and you have the chats then if you have to, but on live tv? Didn't think it was the best thing he had to say, especially as Mario came on and changes the game.
now...................... i don't think this is a great result I think a) besiktas were organised and composed but not of really high quality b) we were not really got at but still coughed up chances, a lot of self inflicted stuff as well c) 1-0 going away to turkey is not a lot, it is however no away goal. I feel its good but not great. better than a kick in the teeth obviously but the tie is very very tight IMO.

Absolutely this Balo clearly the best we have. Reidy got it spot on for me, but i tell you now, i have just lost a wedge of respct for Gerrard. Don't think there's any doubt that Mario is the best penalty taker of the three. Bit of confusion, now let them sort it out for the future. Hendo needs to be strong and show his authority if he's the skipper. I don't mind Sturridge wanting to take it and being a bit miffed, as long as he doesn't sulk- there's no place for that. Can showed character calling Daniel over to celebrate (poor game from him, though). Clearly finds him difficult to deal with. Tbh much as I want balotelli to do well, I really don't think he will be a part of our setup for more than a year. He's still the same guy, does what he wants and doesn't smile when he scores. I just don't see how that fits with our ethos.
That's bollocks. It's not Hendo's, Mario's, Studge's or even Gerard's choice, is the managers choice and if the manager said Hendo then that is who should take it no matter how good another players record is.

Well that's incredibly poor judgement by the management if he rather have Henderson take it over Mario. No chance I would give it to Hendo because he lacks composure. Quite clear he's not a captain.
Disagree. Players should be intelligent and have the balls to make their own decision on the pitch. They will live and die by those decisions but i'd rather my players were happy to take a risk and use their own minds than just follow orders without questioning. Everyone knows Mario is the best pen taker... just because Rodgers wanted Henderson to take it, deep down he probably knew Mario was a better pen taker and made the decision to let him have it. If Hendo was as confident in his penalty taking duties as Mario then Mario wouldn't have got within 10 yards of that ball.
Didn't hear that but tbf it's true anyway. Mario would be my choice but he wasn't the managers therefore he shouldn't have taken it.
Well said - I want players who take responsibility and step up. We're adding more and more characters in this team and I love it. It's just a shame this incident will detract from some positive performances.
