I thought I would finally announce my return to this hallowed debating forum, the home of some of the finest minds in Hull and the extended Hull empire around the world. (Allegedly). The reason or my absence is because, sadly, I have been having major problems with my eyesight. At one time the vision through my right eye had gone completely and my left one was very weak. It reached the point where I was unable to see much of my computer screen (highly enlarged font helped a bit) and even TV was a blur. I was finally forced to quit my job! Then, I had to surrender my driving licence. However, thanks to some very skilful surgeons at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital n Sheffield and the donors of two corneas, to whose families I will eternally be grateful, I am, hopefully, on the mend. I may need further surgery but that is a small price to pay.I am now able to watch football on the TV again and I plan on getting to some matches soon. My world is returning to (almost) normality My views and opinions are not always popular on here (hence the heading - it's one of the politer things I have been called) but - hey ho, ain't that the fun of it?
Glad to hear. I have had trouble with one eye so to have problems with both must be extremely worrying. Eyesight is such a precious thing. That is why I started donating to one of those charities treating eye problems in Africa. It is a cliche but when you look at what some footballers, pop stars and so called celebrities earn what are the people who carry out the sort of work you had done worth?
Does this prodigal return really merit such an announcement? I mean, 53 posts hardly screams "stalwart", does it?
Welcome back. Hope you make a full recovery. Failing eyesight is a real pain but at my age its to be expected.
