Nor me. A half-arsed 'apology' that comes seven months after the event, just before he returns. He doesn't care, he just wants an easier life - but at least he admits that his behaviour was regretful. I agree, it was very regretful.
Slightly disagree fran, that sentence is the one where he shows his true colours,he doesn't come over too bright does he? On Sunday he'll find out how we feel.
If he had said this at the beginning then his reception may have been a little less vicious than what it will be. As a captain who jumped ship in very choppy waters, he will deserve his boos. The real abuse should be saved for Dejan though.
I am 45 years old and should probably know better, but bollocks to that. I think he is a weasel-like, horrible, little man. He behaved like a prick and so I'll behave in a manner he can relate to. I really don't care how bad I look, he is getting some **** on Sunday. I admire all you folks who say we should move on and the best way is to beat him, but this sunday, for me anyway, revenge is a dish best served with a three nil thrashing in a vitriolic atmosphere, filled with bitterness and hate Bring it on Twatbeard - you've had this coming.
There's a part of me which really wants those players who jumped, to get the message, which will be big enough to be reported in the media. And then there's a part of which hopes that we don't go too overboard, as to make the club look bad. At present, my overwhelming hope that Lallana and Lovren get the message wins out easily. I've a feeling that if Rickie gets on [slim chance] he may find that his appearance isn't universally acclaimed. There isn't anything like the feeling that the above two have aimed at them, but Rickie has undoubtedly had one or two of the edges chipped off his legendary status simply by being associated with the exodus. Doesn't help that he went to Liverpool either. I expect cheers, but less than many others might. Hopefully, I'm wrong.
I think Rickie will still get a Lampard like reception. His departure was understandable to fulfil a boyhood dream and his love of Saints is well documented. The other two can **** off!
Surely Lallana should get more abuse than Lovren. Sure, Lovren behaved like a dickhead, but he was here only for a year, and then he moved on. He never expressed his eternal love to Southampton, he didn't come through club's ranks nor was he the captain of the club. All those things are true for Lallana, and that's why his exit is more hurtful, I think.
Agree that I don't understand more hatred towads Lovren than Lallana. Adam is the worst of everyone who left in the Summer. I hope he gets absolutely hammered. In the same way I hope Rickie gets a heroes welcome! The baby's not yours, the baby's not youuurrrssss, Adam Lallana, the baby's not yours!!!* *Allegedly
Lallana gave us 7 years of service, helping to get us to the PL. Yes, the way he left us was wrong and very disrespectful. But I've got over it. Lovren on the other hand, totally used us as a stepping stone to get to a bigger club. He can **** off. I'm not sure if I'll boo Lallana yet, but Lovren deserves hell from the Saints fans. Lallana not so much.
Other way round for me, Lovren didn't call himself "Mr Southampton" and say he wanted to end his career here. Also they were both quoted saying something along the lines of "head already at liverpool" (or something similar). Which is bang out of order full stop, but is it worse for the player who was halfway through his first season at the club? Or the captain? Having a captain say he was thinking about playing for another team during our season is just not on and he deserves everything he gets.
I think the fans have every right to give them a hard time when they return, the only real concern i have is that this is a very important game and if its overshadowed by the fans reception of former players then i feel that will have an effect on our players as well, plus i think Ron would be a little upset with the fans if rather than cheering on our team they spent 90 minutes hurling abuse. My personal view is we are better without them so who gives a ****!!!!
Yes, that was wrong but I'm choosing to remember the Lallana who gave his all for this club. I can't be arsed to hate a player who gave more to this club than Shaw, Chambers, Walcott, Chamberlain, Bale etc.
I'm not sure, I think we can really get to them, make st marys a cauldron of hate. Massive cheers for every tackle, whistling whenever they've got the ball etc.
He wanted to - he went as far as refusing to play in a friendly, till Wotte forced him. No firm bids were ever received for him. At least, this is what I've heard.
I can be arsed to hate someone who treated the fans/staff of this club like ****s. Remember the announcement on the OS of his departure? That said everything about the way he left for me. I will lose my will to hate him once we trounce them on Sunday
