I set the poll up and allowed people to change their minds, but didn't see the bit that permitted it to be open/closed. However, don't know why everyone is so concerned about that....it's not like people are admitting to murder.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...tottenham-in-race-for-premier-league-top-four This might help you make your minds up. It just made me nervous. So near and yet.......
As a really selfish saints fan i want 3rd purely because it would guarantee champions league, i got a real feeling that either Liverpool or Spurs could win the EL this season so 4th place would then not be good enough for CL. I don't like the idea of playing in the EL what with all the extra games that would really stretch our squad plus playing PL games on a Sunday really is ****.
Forget top 4, I want top 3. Seriously. Top 4 isn't automatic Champions League and means we have to start playing Euro qualifiers early in the season when we need to be focusing on the Premier. Top 3 is still possible. Man Utd have some tough games coming up, Arse, Liverpool and Spurs have Euro stuff and the League Cup final. We have just one thing to aim at. WHY NOT!? (shouted!). Like one or two others I do not want Europa League as it is likely to stunt our progress towards Champions League, unless we were to win it of course!
I don't see us dropping out of the top 8 - that would require Man United, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, West Ham AND one of Swansea/Stoke/Newcastle to finish above us. Therefore we are almost guaranteed Europa League at minimum now which is a nice feeling. Why settle for 5th?!
No way - I want top four as much for us as for who we would be keeping out. Us finishing fifth would likely mean one if not both of Liverpool and Spurs would get our place. I can't explain how much I don't want either to get top four. If one had to, I'd have to grudgingly accept Liverpool - despite it vindicating two of the three Ls. (I know they've already been vindicated by playing in the CL - just would love them to have moved away from a CL club to a non-CL club. As well as further seeing Brenda's comments coming back to bite him.) At least they've been fairly regular in the CL. I couldn't bear seeing Poch be the one to bestow CL qualification glory on Spurs.
That's the attitude..! To be honest, I think it's a bit odd to ask the question. If Saints were in 8th - 10th, or lower position I would take it, but to be in 4th with a realistic chance of 3rd or perhaps even 2nd, at a stretch, means there's no way I'd settle for 5th. Put the same question to the players. They'd kick you out the stadium.
Good point about the Europa League winners .... I wonder when Brenda gives up on the league and goes all out for the Europa. Finishing 4th and them winning that would be hard to stomach
How far down do the European places go this year? Does it depend on the winners of the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and Champions League?
Just to point out, if the Europa League winners finish outside the top 4, England will have 5 teams in the CL, they would not take the 4th places spot. However, if the CL and EL were won by English sides who both finished out the top 4, then 4th would miss out (unlikely).
Is that correct? It doesn't seem to ring true. 1. Chelsea (and win CL) 2. City 3. Spurs (and win EL) 4. Saints So in this scenario, only 3 teams go into the CL? That can't be right. Did you mean 5th place miss out? Edit... you said both finish out of top 4 - I get it
I might not have been clear: Say it finished: Chelsea City United Saints Liverpool win EL, Arsenal win CL (i know!) - we would miss out. Edit: Just seen your edit!
