Tony Fernandes has revealed the man he had in mind for the QPR manager’s job is British.
But after a think and an away win at Sunderland, former academy chief Chris Ramsey will stay in charge until the end of the season.
The chairman tweeted a few days before a first victory on the road he believed he had found his ‘dream manager’ - and for the first time explained the social message was more exasperation than information, while hinting strongly he might revisit the ideal candidate at a later date.

Not for Rs future: Mark Warburton
Whether it’s Ramsey or someone else - it definitely won’t be outgoing Brentford manager, Mark Warburton.
“He was on the list,” admitted Fernandes. “I never spoke to him. His was a name I picked up on Twitter as it happened because of his pedigree and what he has done for Brentford, but he’s not in the mix for the end of the season.
“I wanted someone who believed in coaching players.
“We wanted a people person who could motivate players. Someone who had come up the hard way, and up through the leagues, and someone who fitted QPR. We know more or less who Rangers fans want, and would say: ‘wow’, when we announced it.

    In place: Chris Ramsey
“If you look at Chris, he’s fitted all those points.
“We never ever considered anyone who wasn’t from here. The reason I put that Tweet out was I was getting tired of those being suggested. (Danish manager, Michael) Laudrup was the last straw for me.”

    What's your favourite colour Tony?

    - well it's in the spectrum visible to the human eye, and when I tell you you'll go 'wow!'. Hold on, that might be dogs. Or bats. Not humans. I'll get back to you on that.
    - what colours have we got?
    - I've seen several colours this week, but none of them seem quite right. Or they were too expensive.
    - red is the colour of the people's flag, and Air Asia, do you like that? No? Well, neither do I then
    - I like a colour that's come up the hard way, had to fight for visibility, not one of these flashy foreign primary colours. Unless you like them, of course.
    - You don't like Sherwood Forest green? Err, ok, let me make a quick call............Done. Neither do I, hate it in fact.
    - this low profile colour we have at the moment doesn't seem to be upsetting anybody, I think I'll stick with that for a bit, if it's ok with you
    - OK,OK....I don't have a favourite colour, I don't know anything about colours, just tell me which one you want and I'll try to get it.
    - Right, right, I've got it! My marketing guys have focus grouped it and my favourite colour is the one that exemplifies the QPR brand, the way we like to do things, the vision we have and our 3.5 season tradition, our core values......taupe! Taupe is the future! Taupe says it all! It was always taupe and I've been very clear on that from day one. Taupe has the favourite colour position until a few people tweet me to say they don't like it anymore.

So the dream manager was Ramsey all along?

I'm very pleased with him in a short space of time but I don't think anyone would say he has a wow-factor. I also think that the appointment should be for the club first and then the fans and board will fall into line/agreement.

It's all a very cryptic merry-go-round and could have been avoided by not saying anything until the decision and then something along the lines of:-

"Chris brings a wealth of coaching experience and knows the club from youth level up to the first team. We firmly believe that we have the right man to take us forward and give us the best chance of survival in the short term and build the structure we want to make QPR an established club with a reputation of bringing through academy players."

And then just leave it at that. TF fuelling speculation just because he can doesn't fill me with joy especially since Twitter doesn't allow a distinction between media and fans so we all got played a bit.

I'm still in an upbeat place and am happy with the end result so I'll leave it at that.

I dont think there can possibly be a single permeatation of interpretation as to his dream manager left now can there?

He seems to have covered pretty much every angle.

My worry is that for the first time in as long as I can remember we now have a guy at the helm who doesn't live by his reputation and isn't a big name charlie, who the players respect and have collectively said they want to play under, who seems to analyse his opposition and prepare thoroughly and who is humble enough to quietly get on with the job and yet, if he reads any of this this continuous twaddle could find the whole media circus thing distracting and unsettling.

Please Tony, for the love of all things sane, stop banging on about things you clearly haven't thought through and FFS stop back pedalling. <doh>

This is where CR being a bit older than we all thought actually may help - if you were a young manager (40 or less) then I think you're right but I think our man has been through scrutiny and speculation when at Spurs amongst others (or at least witnessed it from fairly close proximity) and I think he just likes to get on with his day job.

Your last line echoes my feelings exactly.

Lets be honest, he quite possibly has his "dream" manager (Paul Clement) in place for next season, however, why destabilize the squad by saying that CR is only in place for 4 months.

It's also quite probable that the "dream" has a caveat in the contract allowing him to seek other options if we're in the Championship. That being the case, TF needs to keep CR sweet as he might be the best choice in that scenario.

I think Tony said in an interview recently that Ramsey would stay if we stay up, and quite possibly if we go down. See the 'Job is Ramsey's to Lose' thread.

Mind you, Tony's relationship with facts is becoming as tenuous as Redknapp's was, so I wouldn't read anything into what he tweets, he's just keeping his pixel count up.

I agree with you in principle KooPeeArr but still worry that CR has a tough enough task ahead of him and wont take kindly to media bods questioning him about his future pre and post match when I suspect, he would rather just focus on the performance of the team.

I just worry he could quickly become sucked in to the whole media circus that seems to surround TF and the club when we have far greater and more important things to focus on.

I just dont get how TF doesn't realise the additional pressure he must be heaping on CR by contradicting his support for the man and continually drawing attention to the situation.

Did have an anonymous guy fawkes mask one but felt it was a bit too "dark" for an upbeat, friendly forum such as this!

    Embarrassing.
    Let's have some honesty.............please.
Appears as believable Harry's exit reason.
The fan-base deserves more than to be fed this sort of tripe.
I'd far rather no news than mere snippets of what I believe to be utter BS.
Why so very difficult to just say "Harry didn't work out so we negotiated his leaving" and "I thought I'd secured the dream replacement, but it was not to be". The fans would respect that.

Tony's had a tough time of it lately. Imagine how we feel when we're losing, people moan about the cost of a ticket just to see us lose?! Imagine how it feels when your ticket cost you a couple of hundred million. Then there's the fact he does love his twitter! The sad thing is he takes things to heart and unfortunately listens to the negative abuse too much, of which there is much and much of it vile. So let's forgive him when he's trying to enjoy things when the pressure is off.

I have no issue with Tony at all, I like the man, am pleased he is our chairman and get the impression he cares for the club in a manner beyond that of it just being a business venture. My issue, is that I feel we are provided with misleading news, be that intentional (Harry's knees, perhaps) or not (over exuberant and premature tweets, most lately about a new manager).

I have no idea what Tony listens to or if he takes any of the fans abuse to heart, I am not sure how anyone else, beyond Tony's immediate family and colleagues might know this. I also do not know how much of Tony's money has been used in this project. As regards the issue of ticket costs, the fact is, a person with £500 or so a month disposable income might feel more upset and impacted upon by a wasted £50-£100 than a billionaire might feel losing a few million.

We are a forgiving lot as far as I can make out, and a few quid wasted on a ticket is occasionally OK. When that wasted money becomes the norm due to regular pi55poor performances (much of this season) then it is not.

I've no doubt Clement was his 'Dream Manager' but it's Ramsey's to lose now. He must feel a pissed-off with the constant speculation over TF's 'twittering' habit and get the feeling he's seen as this...

I think if everyone took ALL tweets, on whatever topic or subject, including Tony's, with a pinch of salt and treated all of them as bullsh until proven otherwise, no one would get their knickers in a twist about them and won't end up disappointed. Twitter is dangerous!!

Tony's dream is very similar to Patrick Duffy's in Dallas

2 minutes in dream world is equal to 2 seasons of drama

    Very well said !!!

Although, I would go far as too say, twitter, should be ignored completely (which by the way, is what I do) - not registered, never will do !! Pointless claptrap :)

I could not agree more. Sound-bite snippets of, I am sure, often moronic thoughts. I too, have never and plan never, to be a part of that.
