Our next transfer Target. Were getting to the nitty gritty end with a suitable backup for ruddy (or new no1) what ever way you look at it and a top notch CB is required aswell. Thinking caps at the ready cos I ain't gotta clue who we could be after for these positions...

An additional experienced 'keeper and a versatile defender - if one exists and if we can afford him, and I'd say we're sorted. Let the Deutscher boot-camp begin <ok>

A keeper I expect. It won't be Forster by I have heard rumblings of a Joe lewis deal. Swap for Cody? Yeah I reckon that's fair. They need a goalscorer, we need a keeper. Simples.

Although doing business with Peterborough is never easy apparently. Not with all those wannabe crafty cockerney sparraaas running the club

Am I the only one that thinks we don't really need another centre back?

I expect Barnett to come back like a new signing next year. That man has never lost a header, ever! I'm going for him and de laet at this back, whitbread first choice backup, wards not rubbish either so I reckon we're covered?

But everyone else reckons we need another CB I'm all alone!

I guess we are only going to know for certain once the games are under way.
They are all unproven at this level but hopefully ready to show the rest of the league what they are capable of <ok>

Everybody in the World is 'unproven' at anything they've never done before!

If nobody ever gave them a chance, how on earth would progress ever be made?

Some fair points there. It's just my opinion, and others. I'd probably prefer a good keeper to another CB, seeing as Whitbread seems to have gotten over his injury jinx.

just looking for a bit of insurance at the back

That I would agree with. I have been hoping all summer for this to happen but not panicking yet, still have 5 weeks to go.

I'm not saying people that think we need another centreback are wrong, it's a position we certainly need to improve on but I believe we should get a keeper and a senior competitive right back

    Kyle naughton anyone?

I'm willing to trust PL on this one. Last time in the Prem, City went with Doherty, Fleming and a very young Shackell and we nearly survived. Now there is Barnett, Whitbread, Ward and De Laet (who is a CB first and foremost). With De Laet able to cover at RB and LB as well, I don't see the problem. As for GK, the need seems to be based on Rudd going out on loan. PL may feel that Rudd can get the necessary experience in Prem reserve games, backed up by Steer.

The real problem last time was up front, where Svensson and McKenzie were the only options (so Doherty had to play up front some of the time). Now we have 6 or 7 strikers (I'm not including Johnson or Daley). Of these, Morison, Vaughan, Jackson and McDonald (if he stays) have genuine pace and goalscoring ability. Add to this two new wingers/strikers who also have genuine pace and goalscoring ability. Back in 2005, Huckerby was the only player who had genuine pace. This will make a huge difference this season, especially if the strikers and wingers can use their pace to track back when we lose the ball. All of this makes me confident that Lambert knows what he is doing.

  14. Personally, I hope we stay away from posh. Not impressed by the unprofessional manner Barry Fry and Darragh MacAnthony have conducted themselves through the CMS affair and now the Cody bid.

Cody isn't worth £500k...? "He's never played" for us....?

Adam Le Fondre is apparently worth £1m +, played more games than Cody and finished with less goals....?

We need a keeper. If Ruddy couldn t keep a clean sheet in the Championship he will get murdered in the prem. Cudicini ????????

I like Cudicini, but I suspect, having played for both Chelsea and Spurs, even if he agreed to take a pay cut, he'd still want at least £50K per week
