I only watched up until Chelsea scored, knowing how they play I thought they'd have just parked up and kept the 1-0 win so was pleasantly surprised to see the final score. Hopefully PSG will get an early goal on the return leg, would make for an interesting tie.

Speaking of getting shot of managers, what the hell are Brentford thinking? Warburton has been the best thing to happen to that club in years and now their owners are deciding to adopt the head coach/ DOF stuff which Warburton didn't like and therefore have decided to split ways at the end of the season. Surely as a chairman/ board you'd do all you can to keep the manager who's got them to this position, rather than make it awkward, forcing him to leave? Crazy.

Allardyce is quite a blunt man so unless he's said something to irritate the fans, I can't understand why the West Ham fans would be this unhappy, unless they're still miffed with getting spanked by WBA. But even then it's one poor result.
He's mixed his style of football up, made some shrewd signings in the transfer market and they're 8th in the Premier League, having enjoyed good performances against the current League champions and the runners-up last season.
Out of Chelsea, City, United, Southampton, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool, which side do these fans think they should be doing better than, exactly?

It's bizarre, Warburton has been fantastic, there's really no logic to making a big change when things are on the up. I can't help but feel there must be something more going on than a disagreement over control of transfers and a move to the continental system as there's plenty of middle ground inbetween and no reason for either side to be so stubborn as to not work out a way forward. Then there's the timing, why the hell are they doing it midseason?
There's a rumour going around that he applied for the Norwich job without informing Brentford and this is why they have fallen out with him.
Makes a little more sense now. Seems a silly thing to do, as it'll taint his growing reputation.
Ah, that makes sense. Although it was a bit of a coincidence that Fernandes' Tweet and the Brentford statement talking about the possibility of other clubs coming in for Warburton came out on the same day, it did have me thinking about whether Forest or someone had been in touch. Mostly I thought it might have been something to do with the Spanish players given that it was a Spanish coach they were sounding out and Jota in particular will be a tough one to keep hold of if he becomes unhappy with things.
Speaking of Brentford, it's a real shame that Brentford v Bournemouth didn't get picked for TV, surely it's the best tie in the Championship this weekend?

Some of our academy lads are in contact with Alex Pritchard and apparently the story came from him.
Seems to have unsettled the team, going by their result against Charlton, which surprised the hell out of me.
It would be very disappointing if they were to fall away badly for the rest of the season.
It's more than just one bad result, they have only won only two games out of their last 12, and those wins were against a side two divisions below (Bristol City) and Hull.
Their defence isn't good enough and they need a quality striker too. Charlton may have been a bit of a shock but a few fans have said to me that it had been coming with the way they'd been playing. Then again they are prone to say some ridiculous things, there seems to be a few Brentford fans that don't actually want them to go up this season! They reckon it's pointless to go up and back down again, which is what they'd expect if they went up next season.

But current form suggests that they will head down the table. They were overachieving earlier, so there will be disappointment amongst their fans that will not maintain it - or look like they won't.
Disappointment isn't the problem. Everyone may feel disappointed with their side for a host of reasons. And their fans are entitled to be disappointed due to poor form.
But there shouldn't be pressure on their manager to get sacked when they are 8th and have had a decent season so far (when you put it all into perspective).
They've struggled in the last month or so but Allardyce has proven he isn't the one dimensional manager everyone thought he was.
Sometimes I think the expectations of certain fans are sky high when there is no real reason for there to be.
I think it's a bit of a dilemma for most Spammers. Their natural instincts are to dislike Allardyce, and his brand of football. But, as the team have exceeded expectations this year, he's been given a reprieve. The fact that they have now hit a bad patch just gives those who never wanted him an excuse to get on his back.
I think that their failure to come close to challenging for anything again is an issue, too.
