It's slightly worrying, because I would love to see a Premier League Old Farm Derby (us in the autos, them going up via the play-offs), but if there's one team that I would think Wolves could catch up with out of the current top six, it's Ipswich.

That might seem mad, given the nine points gap, but the Binners have an absolutely brutal March, followed by a difficult Bournemouth fixture at the beginning of April. If they kick March off with a loss, even a narrow one, to us, they are in real danger of spiralling downwards I think. By contrast, Wolves have a tough March, but all their difficult games are at home.

Anything less than ten points from those seven key games for Ipswich, and I think that by the time they go to the Molineux at the end of April (even if they pick up decent points in their other "easier" games) there could be just a couple of points between them. Wolves win that and then it's everything to play for, though Ipswich have goal difference on their side.

In fact, looking at Wolves' other fixtures, from now on they could really do us some massive favours if they in a helpful mood!

JWM has a number of times moaned about them potentially breaching fair play and spending big. Chips and shoulders if you ask me.

They either have or haven't , hardly to QPR standards .
I honestly have never heard of charges against them or massive signings.

nah, It all comes down to eddie howes comments after our game down at their place, and some of their fans comments. Eddie Howe is just a snidey little prat, take his comments after the huddesfield game. for Christ sake just give the oppos a bit of credit.

Rob surprisingly I do not agree with your analysis at all but if that's what you believe then fair enough!

Its funny really. We often get accused of moaning about all kinds of things but the amount of whinging the Ipswich fans do is beyond belief. Honestly, Bournemouth have a wealthy backer who is doing great things for them and they have a terrific young boss. Its great to see the so-called smaller clubs getting a bit of the limelight for once. I've read the 'comments' in question and he really says nothing wrong.

As for Brentford, of course they are still in contention, but its not a great idea to tell your manager and his coaching staff they will be off at the end of the season. Hardly going to inspire them.

Fair question. I didn't mention them because I agreed with other posts that they are in freefall, but obviously that might not be the case.

Wolves looked like a decent outfit to me (they were unlucky to come up against us at our best, and even then they held us to only 2-0) and at home can definitely beat anyone, so even with four points behind Brentford I sense they have a better chance.

Fair enough, I didn't know about that. Was he saying you play hoofball? ;)

JWM has definitely moaned about the money they spend too though.

It wasn't really an analysis? More a statement of how difficult the remaining matches are. Ultimately, the opposite of my post is equally true. Beat us at Carrow Road and a few good points in March and your toughest fixtures will be over, you'll be virtually home and dry, top six.

I was essentially saying (in my own way) that you have a tough set of fixtures which could rock the boat and I think they are significantly tougher than ours, Watford's or Wolves' fixtures. Don't you agree? You just posted all the away matches you have to play against teams in the top six...

have to agree to disagree supers on this one, sometimes he needs to give opponents some credit, not just whinge on about them going out to spoil the game. Its as though we are supposed to stand there and watch them pass the ball about and applaud!

would love to have seen if he could do it without the money.

No doubt they wiggle and wriggle to get past some of the rules, but so are Ipswich. They make a loss of around £7m which is borderline failing.
Please can you post the comments for all to see. I can't be bothered to find them. I've seen them and they are in no way enough to kick off a hate campaign of some kind.

They moaned about Adams when we beat them Derby when they beat them but Mick comes out with crap like small teams up their game when they play the mighty Ipswich..
He is hardly a gentleman praising other teams so what can they expect back.
Brentford is a strange one , how can you sack their management team .
Nobody expected them to be in with a shot of promotion not even them, I have stopped writing them off especially after outclassing us at home with our new manager.

[WUMmode]Yes, good point. You Binners must watch this passing the ball malarky and wonder whether they play a different game.[/WUMmode]

March is an awful month for us, but sometimes its better playing against sides who aren't just sitting back hoping for a draw. as wigan were against us a few weeks ago.

So? As far as I'm aware, they didn't spend a penny in January.

True. As I said to JWM, it could go either way. But I think history generally tells us that tough months usually mean teams struggle, particularly when they are in bad form. If you can maintain momentum in your next two matches before you play us, that might well be enough and as I say you could be virtually comfortable by matchweek 40.

Looking at those fixtures that Warky kindly posted, you'd have to say Bournemouth have the best run in based on fixtures against competitors. They should pick up enough points from games against others that it renders the results they get in the two 'big' games almost irrelevant. Middlesbrough and Ipswich have the toughest with away games heavily outweighing home games against competitors.

To be fair, you'd have to say City are currently in their 'toughest' period - albeit its not a calendar month. Wolves (h)/Watford (a)/Blackburn (a)/Ipswich (h)

Bang on. Maybe they are jealous. Bournemouth under Howe remind me of Ipswich under Burley. Good side, competitive, good to watch, get results, score goals. Yep - definitely jealous! ;)
