Rap should not be confused with music imo. The manufactured studio nonsense is complete rubbish. Ideal for those with no musical ability of course. Saves all the tedious stuff of having to learn to play an instrument.
I like rap songs that transcend the genre but in general I have very little time for it. One or two Public Enemy, Biggie, Tupac songs are actually very decent music. A lot of it is utterly **** though, I just don't share their bragging culture that makes up their lyrics.
On the contrary mate the rap I listen to is far from mainstream stuff that relies in electronic beats etc. There's a lot of talent involved instrumentally as well. Having said that, I can appreciate a good mc with any beat. It's a talent that is given very little credibility by many generations which is understandable, music isn't linear or evolutionary so I don't preach that it's advancing in any way, it's just preference, I don't expect to still be listening to it in 30 years as I expect my personal taste to change (not evolve!).
The only rap I`ve heard is a largely unintelligible monotone accompanied by a repetetive thud. It didn`t take much for me to say no thanks. Musicians can spend lifetimes learning their instruments. For every one who `makes it` there are thousands just as good who don`t. Then some twat comes along with a computer program, can`t play a ****ing note, generates electronic noise and makes millions? Sorry Terry, we`ll have to stay disagreed on that one.
By the same logic people all over the world spend their entire lives perfecting their culinary skills then some bald dude comes along and cooks a chicken with a blow torch and they shower him with Michellin Stars. You think it's talentless but I guarantee you no matter how many times he tried, John Lennon could never do what somebody like Cut Chemist can do with a turntable. It's just a different instrument mate. You prefer traditional instruments obviously.

Aye, it was on the news this morning, UEFA can't do **** all. Nobody's even sure if they even went to the game or if they actually are Chelsea fans. If they are identified & are season card holders the club has said they will be banned.
