I posted a question on the Newcastle Board to the effect that if they though Wes Brown was rubish would they take O'Shea and to their credit this was their response. "O Shea - Just not what we need really. We need an Alan Hutton type to give us an attacking threat from right back. Hutton can play a bit. I'm not saying we need Hutton, I'd just like a right back with a bit more culture than Danny Simpson. I'm not sure O Shea would provide that. Different teams have different needs and Bruce has gone for two guys who can play in more than one position. They've had a lot of injuries in defensive areas so it beefs the squad up. If he's spent your left back money on them I'd be livid though!! Simpson is a good defender, tenacious. He could be our Andy Griffin type, the guy you bring in when you want someone kicked. We then need a footballing type full back to complement him. On a side note I wonder if Sunderland have got the best they could with Brown. If rumours are to be believed Carlos Cuellar is available for 3m. He is 28 or 29, a much better defender and can play the same two roles Brown can? " So we have got at least one player worth buying in the window. LOL
O'Shea is a decent player. Not what I'd call a world beater of course but he would get the job done. Far, far better defensive signing than Wes Brown when you take everything into account (age, injury record, ability). In fact, if he was available for a fair price and accepted a 3 year contract, I'd have him for us.
No I am happy with it. Just they were saying he was rubish, not me. So to see if they had anything good to say about our signings I asked about OShea. I think that Brown, if we keep him fit will add experience and good defensive awaremess to the back four.
Don`t think anyone disagrees that O`Shea is better than Brown as a signing - certainly not from the posts over the past week or so. Brown has to be a useful addition though given his experience and the shocking injury list we had last year. Are you seriously suggesting he is a worse addition than Super Sol was for you lot last time around. For the price paid it must make real sense
O'Shea is definetly the better of the two....I'm happy with his signing, the other one, i wasn't bothered but he's here and will do a job. So get the support.
Sol ****ing sucked. I'm not saying that we didn't make mistakes too. However, we did only get him on a one year contract. Imagine if we signed him up to something longer. Brown will be a useful addition for maybe the first season, if he stays fit. However, he's 32 in a few months, and you're gonna have him when he turns 33, 34 and 35, approaching 36. Considering how injury prone he is at the age of 31, I'm not sure if it's what you would call a careful buy for a team who has been plagued by injury problems. Don't you agree?
Yeah. Hugely. Never said I wasn't. However, I'm glad we only signed him on a 3 year deal, so if his knee does cock up, it isn't such a huge financial blow.
Are you saying Brown or oshea wouldn't be picked ahead of danny simpson. There is a reason Ferguson showed Simpson the door he couldn't get in ahead of either of them.
The c*nt is obsessed with us - bet he's a f*cking real life stalker. Hate the jobby-jabbing t*at!!!! Lol Bart
