I won't point out that it's spelt "stressful" though.

Yeah I thought that was the case and would normally check due to the amount of grammar/spelling police on these boards, I was too lazy and now I'm paying the price.

Although "spelt" is acceptable I do consider it poor english though and would prefer spelled.

    Spelled vs. spelt
In American English, spelt primarily refers to the hardy wheat grown mostly in Europe, and the verb spell makes spelled in the past tense and as a past participle. In all other main varieties of English, spelt and spelled both work as the past tense and past participle of spell, at least where spell means to form words letter by letter or (with out) to make clear. Outside the U.S., the two forms are interchangeable in these uses, and both are common.
But when spell carries the sense to temporarily relieve (someone) from work, spelled is the preferred form throughout the English-speaking world. This is a minor point, though, as this sense of spell is rarely used outside the U.S., where it is most common.

I think that's just personal preference; as far as I can tell, neither is more right than the other. I used to do some private English teaching over here and the textbooks also said that both were fine.

Funnily enough, I actually thought very briefly about whether to go for spelt or spelled. Sorry to upset you.

<laugh> Just thought I'd start something to argue about in order to deflect the attention away from my mistake.

    just an update.

thanks to all for kind words.

    he survived.

    that is all.....

no seriously i got scolded fiercely for walking into casualty and him stopping screaming immediately he saw me. 5 hours later dr finally bothered her bollocks.... the gp gave epi pen and sent them in.. the nurses gave pirotin orally and it reduced swelling over 2 hours. we then spent next 3 hours playing games so considering the place was full of flu babies we then felt out of place but relieved.

Shouldn't feel bad about it all. Anaphylaxis can result from nut allergies and should always be taken seriously.
Will you have to carry Epi-pen round for the little-un in future?

Yes I am asking that she gets two

I strongly suspect that it was the American reeces peanut butter cups as he eats Nutella chocolate spread so I dunno if it's all nuts or peanut specifically yet
