    ..... has arrived.

We'd already had a 40 minute wait in Leeds during which time we walked to a pub wearing our Sunderland shirts.
There were quite a few 'stares' and comments but we ate our breakfast and had a few pints while staring back.

We had a few cans on the train and arrived, drunkenly, off the Chesterfield train, into Bradford.
With no fear we strode into town looking for the perfect pre-match boozer.
As we walked towards Centenary Square we heard a 'confrontation' outside the Vaults.

I immediately did a 180 and walked towards the 'trouble' to find half a dozen Sunderland lads legging it away from the Leeds Service Crew who'd come over specifically to cause bother.

Normally I'd have rallied those lads, roped in any other Sunderland around and gone back to confront them.
Instead I just consoled the lads and invited them to join us at Weatherspoons in the square and off we went.

I saw a few of the 'old Peterlee lads' and thought about telling them what was what ....... then after a few minutes 'Funky' turned up and we had a laugh together then went to the ground. It wasn't until just now that I realised I'd never have backed off anyone having a go at Sunderland in days gone by.

    <doh>

There's been a change and I think it's what's called 'growing up/getting old ...... never thought either would happen.

Is this a serious post or are you taking the piss out of yourself?

There's bigger, better and more important things in life mate. You're better off just leaving the knobheads to it unless you're in a situation where you have no choice.

    Just my opinion like.

You don't have the intelligence to work it out ........ stick to a thread where your limited grammar, spelling & intellect are more at home <ok>

Or perhaps you could actually 'think really hard' and create a thread that wouldn't bore people to death.

And that's a very good point mate.

Choice is a very subjective state of mind and one that's tormented me for years.

Do people who wish to visit violence opon the innocent deserve retribution?

Or am I the bigger man if I ignore my fellow Sunderland supporters being set upon?

    That's my current quandary.

Well you started a thread to say you stared at a few people in Leeds. And then consoled a bunch of safc fans after the Bradford perpertrators were out of sight.

I mean, what day has finally come? The day you decided not to 'fight'? Well that's the same as any other day for you isn't it?

Just wasn't sure if you was serious or not.

But if you are being serious, well done, you decided not to act like an idiot, and after 50 odd years you've finally 'grown up'

You deserve a gold star Mr smug.

Trouble often finds those who look for it.It's rare in this type of tribal scrap that one party is completely blameless and a victim.

I'm afraid I'm of a mindset that if I don't know the lads, I owe them nothing and I only have my health and happiness to look after. My my sake and for the sake of my family and friends who're far more important to me than some lads who wear the same colours as me.

    Not getting involved.

You know nothing about me or my previous 50 years so don't deserve an opinion.
There are people, on here, who do know me and understand the the thread .......... you're just guessing.

I've had dozens of stalkers on here and you're by far the most pathetic.

When I posted this thread I wondered who'd be the first sad sack to respond .......... you were in the top 3, I'm sure the other 2 will be along shortly .

Age mate, I gave it all up to look after a lass 20+ years younger than me but I have to admit, I'm cracking at the seams after nearly 6 years.

I admire you but I reckon if I was stood next to you, we would have been in there..<ok><laugh>

The Sunderland lads were just harmless idiots and I'm sure they'd agree with that analysis.
They were just singing daft songs and didn't deserve to have punches thrown at them.

If defending decent lads makes me the 'bad guy' then I'll live with that.

The people in the Vaults were there for trouble and any victim was fair game, it could've been you.

I've never been able to see a Sunderland lad take an undeserved clout and walk away.
I'd rather risk a clout than turn a blind eye.

I understand why some people do, violence in a horrible thing mate.

I'm no alien to scrapping and when I was younger was a headless twat but as I say, as I get older, my loved ones are far more important to me than someone I don't know.

If it's just taking a clout that's fine but we both know it unfortunately doesn't always stop there.

You set yourself up to be laughed at by people. To call me a stalker because I can't take you seriously is just desperate.

I mean surely even you can't take this thread seriously?

I don't need to know you for 50 years to find you funny, over my life I've come across plenty like you and found them funny too.

You're a fantasist who spends great lengths of time typing away exaggerating you're life and yourself.

And when people confront you or take the piss out of you, the best you have is "you're stalking me"

To be honest smug, I wouldn't blame people for stalking you, you're bull **** provides endless amounts of comedy.

Please whatever you do, don't "grow up" haha.

And you're a 'somebody' on a football forum?

    Pretty much somes you up.

I post when I want to post. I don't post to impress or tell people about my lifestyle.

There are great lads on this forum who I like to read about, and comment when I find appropriate.

Hey mate, it's easy to draw conclusions about someone on a forum. Meet the lad? I have and he is funny with a tale to tell as are a lot of lads who post here. One thing like, what he says on here, he will say to your face, just saying like.

The lads on here normally meet in the Victory Club, upstairs about 12pm on match days..<ok>
