I went to see the U21s today, primarily to see this Montenego guy they talk about, plus Walters & Philip. It was quite illuminating for me, as it's the first time I've seen them since July. They've improved too! If anyone watched the match on LUTV please fell free to pitch in. My assessment below is a one-off & only accounts for this match. People could have been playing unusually well or badly, but I only have this game to judge on. Oh, and we played 4-2-3-1. Coincidence? :D

GK- Taylor: Had a bit to do towards the end of the second half, but had a couple of howlers earlier when not under pressure. Fell asleep?
RB - Coyle: I was most impressed with this young man. I'll be surpised if he doesn't get a first team game before the end of season.
CB - Del Fabro: Commanding at the back, but needs an old hand playing with him to develop him, I think.
CB - Skelton: A fair bit behind Del Fabro in his development, but he's getting there. No chance of 1st team for a good while.
LB - Denton: Good solid game. Would like to see him again to make a better judgement, but put in a good shift.
DM - Thompson: Disappointed me. Seemed to be all over the place & didn't work well with Sloth. If this is truly the standard he's reached, he'll be gone soon.
DM - Sloth: Excellent, as you'd expect.
RM - Montenegro: I think I found out why he's not playing. it's because he's not playing, if you see what I mean. OK, he was played at RM instead of LM or striker, but duff is duff.
CM - Adryan: The OS write-up of the match had him playing a blinder. I saw him doing what he does in first team games. Occasional flash of brilliance, lots of running around. That's it.
LM - Walters: I know this was his first full match since his long lay-off, but he'll need to do more than this to get a shot at the first team. Hope he proves me wrong!
ST - Cani: Now I know why Morison is our first choice. Shades of Habibou (remember him?).

    Sub - Philips:
On for Thompson with about 30 mins left. Woke game up. Played very well and good understanding with Sloth. For me, this guy has fantastic potential. Reminds me of Souness (but not there yet!). Ruthless tackler, great technique & passing, & a searing shot on him. Can't see why Redders hasn't given him a chance.
Sub - Parkin: On for Montenegro with about 10 mins left. Not long enough to assess, but some great flashes.
Sub - Mulhearn: Came on right at the end for Adryan. All he showed me in that time is that he's the same lumbering hulk I watched in July. Although giving him an advantage of about 8 stone & 40 years, I reckon I could still outrun him!

Ref- Elizabeth Simms: Local lass was the best ref I've seen at ER in years. Seriously!

McDaid? Think he's in the U18s these days. Really not sure, but you've got me curious now.

Leeds star hails 'outstanding' teammate on Twitter after U21 match with Wednesday

Leeds United's Tyler Denton has praised the 'outstanding' contribution of his teammate Lewis Coyle against Sheffield Wednesday on Twitter after the Whites' development match on Tuesday.

Leeds' and Wednesday's U21 sides met at Elland Road earlier today, as they battled to a 0-0 draw in front of a decent crowd.

It was an experience that went down well with Denton and he reserved special praise for Coyle's role for the team.

Always good to play at Elland road thought @LewieCoyle was outstanding

It will be heartening to see Coyle earning such lavish praise from his teammates, especially as he managed to stand out in a side packed with quality.

Leeds named the likes of Adryan, Casper Sloth, Dario Del Fabro, Brian Montenegro and Edgar Cani in their team so to see Coyle making the biggest impression is a huge recommendation of his talents.

There are high hopes around the 19-year-old's future at Elland Road and he won't have done his chances of getting senior football any harm with a performance of this quality.

Neil Redfearn has shown his faith in Leeds' youth system this season already and if Coyle can continue impressing it would not be beyond the realms of possibility that he could break into the senior side before the end of the campaign.

Lewis Walters also reacted on the social media site after the match, as he made his first appearance after his comeback from injury.

Good to get first 90 minutes in me today thought the boys worked hard and played well! Time to get back to full fitness #lufc

I so hope that Redfearn does return to the development squad if/when he gets replaced...

Hope this works. Some nice skill by Lewis Coyle from today's game. Thanks for the write up. Shame to hear about Cani, I'm guessing he's just a loan though?
