Surely Broadway Buffalo currently 50/1 for the pipe stable still rated 137 which what he was when he fell in the weekend you have to imagine he will get the trip and of his jumping holds there are surely worst bets for the price.
Your plan was scuppered when you said "fell at the weekend"....if it cant jump park fences it wont get round Aintree. BALTHAZAR KING in a heartbeat for me. PRINCE DE BEAUCHENE has a nice looking mark though.
The beast that I’ve already had a couple of bob on is beautifully positioned in the old list at number 48 with a current impost of 10-5. Am hoping the Geraghty lad rides him, at Aintree, like he did recently in his ‘prep’ over hurdles at Newbury. Am no fan of the trainer but just hope that he doesn’t do anything dappy like putting up THAT man (but this is unlikely as he’s certain to be claimed elsewhere) or the the totally inept Richie McLernon. I’m sure if you asked the average Joe, or indeed Joanna, in the Street how many times Mr Henderson has won the old GN they’d reply, ‘Well Guv’nor I’d say 7 or 8’ but the answer is none. Amazing but true. This year he’s just 2 entries Rajdhani Express and Hadrian’s Approach. To use a chav expression I doubt the former would stay the trip ‘in the back of Charlie Slater’s taxi’ whilst the latter is about as unpredictable as you can get. Other early thoughts are that Mr Nicholls’ lot on 11 stone+ all look weighted to the hilt, Balthazar King is about where one would expect, Alan King should be pretty pleased with Godsmejudge’s position and I’m still intrigued by the entry of Buddy Bolero despite him running like a drain over hurdles at the weekend.
At first glance, my shortlist would contain BALTHAZAR KING BACK IN FOCUS GODSMEJUDGE TEAFORTHREE MERRY KING THE PACKAGE MOUNTAINOUS I wonder how much that will change when I've studied the race
Don't you ever have that Woolly, where a horse just jumps off the page at you? They usually fecking lose though
I know I did think that when I wrote it but he is weighted very nicely and he has only ever fallen once which was last week! I do like PDB backed him last year but went round the whole way like a real donkey would be willing to give him another chance and he does fall in the "right weight bracket" of 10st3 and 10st 9
Happens to me a lot , I'm still wondering why a. 50/1 shot in Broadway buffalo has got in my portfolio.
Broadway Buffalo has a great chance if he gets a clear round imo! But that's a very big if!! I will be backing him at Corals - money back if your horse falls
I usually have a couple of ew arrows in this but all my eggs will be in the one basket - Chance Du Roy currently available at 40s. Ran a cracker in this last year to finish 6th when running out of puff after the last. However that didn't tell the whole story. He made a mistake early on and got shuffled back. He then got hampered by Long Run's fall. He had to use up considerable energy to be back in contention 2 out and was thus entitled to be knackered after the last. With a better passage this time round he should be right there. His 2 trips to the track this season have been creditable without ever threatening to win and thus keeping a lovely mark for the big un.
Not confusing him with Cappa Bleu who was second in '13 Oddy? A bit disappointed that one I have had my beady eye on for a while, Saint Are, is "only" a 33-1 shot!
Pricewise certainly agrees with you as Alvarado is one of 2 that he’s put up this morning. 1 pt e/w on him and The Druids Nephew. Both wagers struck at 50’s. As I said above I still don’t think Rajdhani Express will stay the trip ‘even in the back of Charlie Slater’s taxi’ but I note so far he’s not even qualified! He’s not finished in the first 4 in a chase over 24 furlongs+. Mr Henderson and the Mr Waley-Cohen’s will be hoping to remedy that malady when Rajdhani Express lines up in what used to be the ‘Racing Post Chase’ at Kempton Park on Saturday.
No no, I do mean Charlie Mann's ex-Nicholls inmate. He always looked like a bit of an enigma with Nicholls, had his own ideas about the game and on a couple of occasions came to win his race but wouldn't go past the horse in front. He was, however, always a good traveller (which you need to be in the National) and finished 2nd in the Grand Sefton. I keep thinking he still has a really big performance in him somehow. Might have a small e/w dabble at 66s, although I'll probably wait till the day, can't see him shortening beforehand and I'd want NRNB to be backing ante post.
Oddy, I think he’s been transformed by the chap who has recently taken over the reins aboard him. Was a masterful ride by the forum’s favourite Corithian in the ‘Grand Sefton’. Some devastating news for you though is that the younger Mr Waley-Cohen is likely to be claimed by the elder Mr Waley-Cohen come tapes up time re the old GN. Surely, though Cedre Bleu must be another one of those that the ‘Charlie Slater’ quote applies to.
Probably, and it is one of my Favourite quotes (with a capital F). This year I have persuaded some friends here in Berlin (who have a UK satellite deal) to host a Grand National Party complete with sweepstake. Should be fun.
