I acknowledge the Larsson one was ****ing terrible but he's not captain of club & country.
And furthermore nobody defended him, least of all his national manager.

He's gonna get called every name under the sun because it's Rooney though, if a Preston player had done the same, nobody would be complaining, everybody would be saying 'It's about time United got a taste of their own medicine hahaha ****s'.

Rooney knew exactly what he was doing, if he clipped the keeper, it was perfection, unfortunately, that's part of the game. If the keeper comes for that ball, he's got to get it or there's only one outcome.

Fair play to Preston by the way, they had me worried until Young came on. He's been our best player this season and we needed him to change it around. They probably deserved a replay but we took our chances at the end.

But I have to support Billy's sentiments. Rooney is captain of club and country and the idol of most aspiring young, English footballers. He's about as good an example for little boys as Rihanna is for little girls. He's not really fit to captain club or country. It's very, very, sad. Mind you, nowt would be worse for the game than Brady's example of wishing death on people <doh>

And don't get me started on Hodgeson. He should be sacked for backing a cheat publicly given his position.

I totally understand where you're coming from mate, I'm not gonna start defending him for 'diving' but I won't admit that it wasn't a penalty.

If a player dives in with two feet but doesn't connect, it's still a red card, no matter what.

The keeper really has to get the ball for me, otherwise, he knows the consequence.

Hodgson should be sacked anyhow, the guy's a ****ing top of the range dickhead.

I see this differently. Keeper went for the ball and missed everything. No intent on player or ball and Rooney didn't have to fall over. He dived. Larssons was a dive but it was almost identical and he should've stayed on his feet. Had he kept running he'd have clattered into the defender anyway. A foul is a foul if intended. I reckon, if that was Suarez, there'd be a media frenzy on the dive!

Edit: Changed my mind. It was reckless!! But I reckon, had he not overdone the touch and kicked it too far he'd have stayed on his feet!

Also the first Utd goal was he in an offside position? Has to be given if he was as the keeper blatantly waited to see if he'd play the ball

I thought Rooney was shocking but surprise surprise Gary ears said he played well.

I remember years ago utd fans said Rooney would replace scholes in midfield LOL he has never had the touch, passing ability or the football brain of scholes.

    Overrated fat ****

Disagreeing with yourself <laugh> mate I see both sides of it, completely, I'm not gonna dispute his 'dive' but I'll take exception to anybody hoping that he dies as a result of what he did on the pitch.

As for him being in an offside position, yeah he was, it's a grey area. In my opinion, that keeper looked for an excuse, Rooney never got in his way and if he 'believed' Rooney was going to touch the ball and it affected his judgement, then so ****, that shows why he's playing in nets for Preston and not Real Madrid.

As a professional you're told to react first, complain after, don't assume anything. It's like them defenders who stop running because they believe the attacker is offside, then blame the linesman, only to realise they messed up.

People defending him are saying that he dived to take evasive action. No! He took evasive action, then dived! However, for some reason I still believe its a penalty, even if he stayed on his feet! If the keeper had made contact with him it could have crippled him, just because Rooney avoided the tackle it doesn't mean that its not a penalty! It was still a shocking dive and a split second decision resulting from kamikaze goalkeeping made him decide to do it! You should never dive but if there was ever a one which could be describe as acceptable its this one! Not that I'm saying its acceptable! Oh god...I don't know!!!!!

I wonder if Steven Fletcher instead of being cleaned out by the Southampton keeper had dived to get out of the way he would of got a penalty?

Can we sue referees if we go down? Friend and Mariner would be the first, because they both have a vendetta against us, and FIFA need to get involved.

Whether or not the keeper catches rooney in my eyes its a penalty as he has still prevented a goal scoring opportunity. Its human nature to jump out the way of getting hurt. I mean do you want rooney to stand there and get clobbered? There doesn't have to be contact for a foul to take place.

Once the keeper doesn't get the ball he is ****ed. Rooney may have been able to jump over the keepers leg get the ball and score but the bottom line is he has still been impeded illegally so in my eyes its a pen. And before any of our lads try to take the moral high ground remember johnsons dive v west ham no one fave him any **** for it and if he was in rooneys position I would be disappointed if he didnt do the same thing as old baldy bonce.
