I'd be surprised if Charlton got 15%, that would mean they had a 50% sell on arrangement with Brentford who had a 30% one with us. And that would mean when we bought him in the first place they only got £175k.

I'm pretty sure that's what was reported at the time. I'd imagine Brentford did a deal with Charlton when they sold him so they could keep the £300k.

    £4 million minus 30% = £2.8 million.
An interesting article. Well worth a re-read. If anyone would know the details of the sell on clauses it would be Saint Adam, Given that it was him in charge when Michael Turner was signed. As for the rest of the article the less said the better.

It's funny how ending up with £2.8m for Turner seems a complete swizz. Yet in January 2007, he was worth about 30p!

    Hail Phil Brown!

why are you lot so fascinated by what we are doing? every other thread is about leicester. Look, 5.5m is chickfeed to our owners. We have money, lots of it and are therefore going to spend it. It will not go tits up if we dont go up. The owners are here for the long term, their company is worth about 400m and they are here to stay. Like when chelsea or man city dont win the league they keep spending til they do. If we dont go up this year, we will spend some more the following year.

yes its a lot of swag for a player in our league but hes the best CB in this league and we had to beat off prem interest. A lot of fans seem to want us to fail and are jealous of our spending. If an incredibly rich thai family came to your club, relaid your pitch, got you a friendly with real madrid, put big screens up at your ground, and invested millions into the playing squad and got you a world-reknowned manager you would refuse it would you?

we have the money so we will spend it, we are not going silly with cash we dont have, these guys are loaded. So sorry to burst your bubble, but whatevr happens we have lots of money and will certainly get to the prem with these owners in tow, where we will send even more to stay there and be a force.

btw stoke are not a bigger club than us but they are keen on spending the best part of 20m on two birmingham players. Jordan henderson about 20m?? we arent the only ones spending daft amounts-thats the way it is.

No hate for the fans or players but I do hope Leicester suffer badly for trying to buy their way into the premiership.

They probably will get promoted though.

This post beautifully sums up what is wrong with our game today.

    Well done sonny.

You're exaggerating the extent of it, but in case you hadn't noticed it's the summer and there isn't a major tournament happening. You're in our division, and at the moment there only seems to be you, us, and Ipswich making signings or even just announcing any changes so of course there's going to be threads about you.

As for the Asian sugar daddy comment, it might work with most clubs, but I'm sure after the Allam takeover of us I wasn't the only person on here that said they hoped the money was given to the club as a loan from them rather than a gift so that at some point we could legitimately say the club had paid it's way into any position it gains.

anyone would buy their way to promotion if they could. This league gets harder every year. in 2002 we got promoted with a transfer embargo and a squad of 18 players, a forward line of dickov and deane, and nicky summerbee. Its a lot lot tougher now, and yes there are odd exceptions like blackpool which are nice, and yourselves when you went up, that just have a great season and go up. But then when you get in the prem the only way to stay there is spend- wigan, stoke, bloton etc have all thrown money at it to stay up, its the only way. If we get Maynard, Vitor and either routledge or whittingham then i fail to see a team with a better squad than us. (west ham and brum wll lose a lot more players before the season starts)

yes it does, but my point is if it happened at your club you wouldnt say no and would be excited. I never said it was right or good, im merely stating that is the way football is, and we are chasing the prem like every other team, we just happen to be very rich, which again i point out, no one would moan about if it was their club.

if you signed nicky maynard for 5m tomorrow would you all say how disgusting it was and how wrong it was?no you would be excited and thats how us city fans feel.

I just hope....just hope....that we at least humble a few of these 'BIG MONEY' clubs, by finishing above them. And doing it on a relative shoestring.. Of course, it'd be good to get into the play-offs but, as we're still building a squad under NP, it might be that we'll not be ready to make the leap into the Prem. (It nigh-on killed us before, even though it was a different management team).

In 2002 you got promotion after cheating your way out of bankrupcy by going into administration and cancelling £50m of debt. Many small traders from Leicester lost their livelihoods at that time.

And here you are crowing about how much money you have.

Personally, if many of other Leicester fans are like you, I hope you go bankrupt again when the Dodgy Foreigner Money runs out and they call in their loans to the Club.

What? You didn't realise this money was only loaned to the Club? OH DEAR!

actually all leicester fans are like me- excited about our future. Im not crowing im stating facts and trying to say that if money came into your club you would be embracing it like we are. I am 24, i have been watching city for 18 years since i was 6. ive seen us relegated from the prem, promoted to the prem, win 2 league cups, play in europe, get relegated from the prem again, get promoted with no money, get relegated again, get relegated to league 1, win league 1, lose an amazing paly off with cardiff, and now the next chapter- sven, money and 5m signings. Its never dull and i support my club whatever happens. Im not saying all this money is right, but we have it and im excited about our future thats all, im not bragging, its just bitterness from other fans who if in our position would be relishing it aswell.

and also my point about our promotion in 2002 was that the leagues got a lot lot harder than it was then so its almost impossible to fully compete without some sort of cash injection. we happen to now have a lot of it, and we will enjoy the ride. Yes teams will want us to fail because thats natural, but we are just excited. and however much people go ona bout us cheating in administration, if we would have been deducted 10 points we still would have finished 2nd, and we didnt gain by it on the pitch, we didnt sign anyone all season and had hardly any players, but that wasnt my point as i say.

MATT MILLS THE BEST C/B in the league ? No Chance. Enjoy spending big money on average players. Will Sven still be there by the time we meet ? I agree that is will be a very interesting and exciting league this season and yes it does get harder to go up.

cooooool, glad you agree. And yes last season ashley williams and matt mills were the best centre backs in the league IMO. Its a matter of opinion but i feel he is the best CB. Care to say who you feel is better? Dann and Johnson dont count as they will be sold before the season starts.
