I was just reminded of this match when we drove along Coast Road, North Shields, today.

We passed, 'My Shanghai', which used to be a big pub, the Cannon Inn, I think, and I told our lass a story about the place.

A Newcastle mate sorted me a ticket, in the Mag section, for the derby match at SJP.
He said he'd meet me in the The Cannon on the morning of the match.

I turned up, parked the car and walked in, through a brick archway, into the main bar.
As I pushed the door open and strode in there was a wall of about 20 Mags all armed with pool cues etc.

I **** my ****ing pants, thought 'ambush you dirty bastard' and grabbed a bid red fire extinguisher off the wall.
I shouted some mad bravado shyte, went towards them and they all burst out laughing.

It was a set up ........ Tommy had primed the knobsacks to 'ambush me' as I came in <doh>

I bet they still laugh about me to this day .........

I was at that game in the paddock which was the home section - extremely difficult not to burst out laughing when Wayne Entwhistle knocked the fourth in - luckily I managed to

I was in the seats, in the side, and was sussed after the 1st goal.
After that I just cheered and sang along with the Sunderland end, 'sheep as a lamb' I thought.
I never took a punch all day although there were a few coins and various foodstuffs <laugh>

Wayne Entwhistle a favourite of mine, not the greatest to pull on the no 9 but he was the blueprint for Marco.

Marco was a player! Could do with someone with his pace and aggression nowadays.

Me too mate ........... a player of almost no natural talent who would never give up ........... never.

I remember a game at the old Den, Millwall, when it was a real battle about to end at 0-0.

A cross was screamed into the box and Wayne dived among all the flying boots and got his head to it ........ goal!!!!!!

We were in the Millwall seats, jumped up and were set on immediately, great days.
