After England's pathetic effort against the Aussies the World Cup today was lit up by 'little' Ireland's brilliant win over the once-mighty West Indies, a great result even though the Windies are a team riven with disputes and in-fighting.

To chase down a target of 305 and win with over 4 overs to spare was no mean feat and no fluke. If they can beat Zimbabwe there's every chance they may qualify for the Quarter-Finals...

Yep. Brilliant win by the Irish, even though, as you say, the Windies are something of a shambles these days (along with England!).

Thought it was impressive that each side batting first in the 5 games played have scored 300+.......The Windies were the only ones to lose!!!! No matter how I look at the England side I can not see them scoring 300+ in any innings, they will do well to get to the QF's

    Agreed mate.
England have a decent attack, but their batting falls way short of being good enough in the 50 over game.

England may be poor, but they will qualify. The top 4 go through,so we'd have to throw in some truly shocking performances not to.Just started watching my tip to win the whole thing, come on the mighty New Zealand !Home advantage is huge, and they possess a very talented team.

Definitely, he's been hit by England's 'Useless Captain Syndrome', he can't score a run for love nor money at present...

Well, they made hard work of the Jocks...

England always throw in one spectacularly useless performance, last time it was against the Dutch, so I guess we'd best beware Afghanistan...

Swords said .............."Well we had to repay you for Tony Cascarino at some point"

Made me think of the number of South Africans that have gone on the play / captain England ............ ( could nearly make a full team !)

Yet another monumentally pathetic performance from England this morning. New Zealand have absolutely demolished us with an impressive bowling display from Tim Southee taking 7-33 on a decent batting pitch leaving us all out for 123.

Doubtless Piers Morgan will be tweeting endlessly about bring back KP, who you can guarantee would be just as useless in this team of consummate losers.

Instead of developing a specialist one-day squad using proven one-day winners we were still playing Alastair Cook up till a couple of months ago. We might struggle against Scotland at this rate and Bangladesh is looking a sh*t or bust game at the moment.....

Ironically, Pietersen and Carberry, two of England's best one-day players are in TV studios today...<doh>

Just woke up and saw the score.....

I thought the Kiwi's would beat us but i at least expected us to put up more of a fight than against the aussies......and it gets even worse!!

Who really cares what they do in the remaining games now.....even if we manage to struggle through to the next stage we have consistently shown that we cannot match-up to the better teams.

Going nowhere fast with this shower.

Let's be honest KP would have holed out on 4 had he been playing. I fully expected England to lose to the two hosts (who are both in great form), but expected at least an effort with either bat or ball.

But if they cant bat on a flat track against a swing bowler in English conditions - then there really is something wrong with the team. Be thankful we won the toss and batted - they would have racked up 400+

Just saw the scores, bloody embarrassing.

How are ITV going to get an hour of highlights out of that?

Even Afganastan & UAE are putting up decent displays, the UAE were a little unlucky against Zimbabwe....
