We need to win this game so I don't want us to experiment too much. I've never been a fan of rotation for its own sake. If a player is looking like he needs a rest, ok (I would certainly put Coutinho in this bracket atm), but otherwise no. Cohesion comes with playing a settled team. Some players just don't need a lay off like others, and it's amazing how doing well and enjoying your football energises a player.
I think that idea has merits for this game. I think the lad might get away with it at worst and might show something that gives rodgers another options for the league too.
Pretty much what I was thinking. We've have been in a better position had we been away first; just keep it tight and get the match back to Anfield. This way around we need a result take away with us.
true but it also goes back to how good or bad are they? I don't know.... So if we can win 2 or 3-0 with lambert or whoever grand but there you go... its just a busy schedule we have to manage and win through not stagger through. the rests should be players playing an hour and full use of the 3 subs being made each game IMO.
prob the best rest of all is leaving 2/3 lads at home away from long flights and hotels. Sturrdige, coutinho and.... i dunno... henderson for example. If we thought we could play badonltelly and lambert up front and play like utd of course.
We tonked them 8-0 at home, but remember we lost the corresponding game in Istanbul. I think we need to win this emphatically at home before we start thinking of resting players for the return.
With Besiktas winning theirgroup shouldnt they be facing a team who finished 2nd rather than a team who got knocked out the CL? Any one know why this is?
'In the last 32, group winners and the four third-placed sides from the UEFA Champions League with the best records are seeded, guaranteeing they will play the second leg at home. Teams from the same group or the same association cannot be drawn together. From the round of 16 onwards, the draw is free.' So assuming we were not in the top four 3rd place teams from UCL.
