He played for about 70mins on Tuesday. Had four days rest before playing about 70mins again today. He's got five days until the next game now. He'll play.
If Ibe is eligable for the EL, I'd play him instead of Markovic.. Bring in Lovern and maybe give Can a rest.. Keep Allen alongside Hendo, maybe give Ford a rest too and play Lalana behind a two of Stuge and Baloteli. No need to rush Sterling back either, these sides don't travel all that well, we should have enough to get a result at him and keep a few key players fresh for Southampton.
Balotelli and Ibe have to start. Both deserve it. I'd rest Sakho and bring Lovren in too. Is Toure back? If he is I'd say Migs Toure Skrtel Lovren Ibe----------------------------------Moreno Hendo--------Allen Couthino Balotelli-----------Sturridge If Toure is still out I'd play Can, but would like to give him a bit of a rest if possible.
Good point, Couthino has looked a little off in the last couple of games too, Lallana should play in behind
Coutinho definitely needs a rest. I think he's played the last 15 odd games consecutively. rodgers played a strong team against Palace which I think means he will play a weaker team for the EL. I do wish he prioritised EL over FA Cup though.
I'd go with a strong line-up... Migs Toure - Skrtel - Sakho Ibe - Can - Hendo - Markovic Coutinho Sturridge - Balotelli ...I find it hard to choose between Ibe and Markovic. The latter actually started at WB on the left before being move to the right. I don't think Moreno has been great so I opted for both JI and LM.
Markovic won't play, he's likely to be banned after his sending off against Basel... Maybe Ibe if cleared to play?
I like this team but fear it's too strong - we need to focus on Soton away. Rodgers should have rested players against Palace. Henderson and coutinho have played around 18 games consecutively - and it shows as both players have been off the boil recently. Also, Sahho is injury prone and he needs to be managed better. Rodgers needs to learn how to rotate his squad better.
On the left and right? Manpillow may get a game if Ibe isn't registered to play.. Having read through whats been written, tending to agree now that we can't go too first 11 heavy against them on Thursday. If possible, I'd look to rest the likes of Can, Hendo, Sakho, Ford, even Sterling if not 100%... I think as this is europa and ibe is not cup tied he should play. The 2 up sentiment is good. really i can't say much as I've no idea where the opposition is at in terms of quality. I would have to wonder that at this stage can "resting" be done when a 2-0 win minimum is what you'd look for in this game. I' rather win it well at home then rest lads then do it the other way round.
