Alright? I was impressed with Moreno again yesterday, and he's been pretty solid for a while now. Just wanted to know your thoughts on him so far. Poll included. I saw this gif today, pretty cool how similar those goals were. First for Riise on the left, first for Moreno on the right. If Moreno turns out to be as good as Riise was I'll be very happy, but I certainly think he's already the best LB we've had since John left.
Still a raw talent - defensively suspect at times but has the recovery pace to make up for it. Needs to be more refined offensively as he has a tendency to put in high crosses. But I'm a big fan of his - can develop into a cracking player.
That's uncanny them vids. Great buy not yet a great player but will be in 1-2 more seasons, capable of excellence at times will produce it all the time soon
Been a bit disapponted with him. When he gets forward he doesn't really have an awful lot in his locker, mainly either trying to cross in low or just plays it square. Not seen him beat a man in 1v1 through some skill. Hes as a bit shaky defensively as well but has the pace to make up for any mistakes he makes. Flanno was playing better last year, much more solid defensively and his passing was as solid. Just doesnt have the pace to play wing back like Moreno does. Still highhopes as as he's shown real glimpses he can be a good solid lb.
Pretty much this. He prefers to go forward than defend. In this 343 formation he's sometimes a little bit lazy with getting back as he's a LM not LB or LWB. That wouldn't be such a issue if he was great going forward but he's not. He gets forward and offers width but bar that whipped cross he doesn't offer much more. Where's that shooting ability we saw so early on in the season gone? Having said all that, I'm very happy with him too. He's young and will get better.
Agree with this. He seems to be adverse to early balls too mind you we probably have no one in the box to aim for He should be skinning his man and getting to the byline and sending in crosses but he will seldom do that, wondering if he is being instruted not to risk losing the ball in those areas. Delivery needs work too
Huge potential but i hope he works more on the defensive side of the game as this will help towards ensuring that being able to play with a back 4 is a viable option
I think a) he's a nice lad b) he wants to suceed c) he is a terrible defender d) he's quick I think for 12mil its ok but you can see why seville were happy to sell.... a lot of work to do to be a good player. lots of potential as in theory you can teach defending and where to stand, you cannot teach pace and the attacking aspects he has.
Alright. Reminds of me of Riise in that he is a bit suspect at times but will score a few good goals. Deserves his place in the team and if he continues to improve then he can become a very good player.
I think he's not as good offensively as people make out and not as bad defensively as people make out. All in all, a good allrounder, with plenty of pace which will always work in your favour as a FB. For me, he'll be a very good player but he needs start being much more aggresive offensively. You'll often see him cut back himself and opt against taking on the opposing FB, this results in Downingesque pass backs or aimless balls in to the box. He certainly has it in his locker to beat his man, and his pace would get him to the byline more often that not. Overall though pretty pleased with him.
I think personally he's not shown very much awareness in the box and has let far too many players run off him and score so this is why we was dropped for markoivc first at LWB and rodgers really didn't want to play him I don't see this whole drive to the byeline stuff though... this is not lfc. we dn't play this way on the right side either. sure when two players like sturridge and badontelly get on there is a case for it but in general we are a ball retaining team... no a kock 20 in and hope.
Decent enough, but still a lot of improvement to make. This system suits him in that his defensive responsibilities are secondary (to an extent). He's shown a few frailties as a LB and gets caught upfield. But then, so did Riise.
Couldn't resist, eh Jimmy? The more I see of Sakho the more I like him, on (and off) the pitch, though he still needs to work on his distribution. This was my point though, Moreno looked a bit dodgy in a back four, the current set-up suits him more as Big Mama holds the play up and gives him time to get back. Btw, I never thought I'd be advocating a back three, but it just shows, if a system suits your players go for it. Perhaps Utd should play more long ball stuff?
a bit? he looked like he wouldn't get in a league 2 side to me. I lost count of the times he just let anyone rn off him at the far stick and score. he's not had a good start as LB. there is a reason why he was sat on the bench when markoivc was put LWB I feel he was that bad it was part of rodgers thinking on this 3-4-3 formation. he could not play 4 at the back with markoivc LB and enrique was unfit, so was flanangan AND johnson so he was scratching round and it says a lot that moreno was not in that LWB thinking. Its good he's managed to get back in and took his chance when Markovic went RWB.
fair enough... at least the lads worked a bit but i feel markovic in general has been far more impressive as a defender than him and that says something. As a young player he's got scope to improve s the next couple of years he'd better get to it.
Agreed - and mentioning Sakho wasn't to downplay Moreno. It helps having an experienced centre back who talks to you throughout the game, and Sakho certainly does this. I went to the game against Palace and it was evident that Sakho and Can are real leaders on the pitch.
