Far from ideal I know, but I would go for.. Harriott Cousins LePoint JBG I would leave Jackson on the bench as an impact sub. His legs have palpably gone. I would drop Buyens from the squad altogether. He has done nothing to deserve being in the team. Thoughts?
I just can't get a midfield that fills me with confidence. Wiggins and Cousins doesn't work. Wiggins and Harriott doesn't work. JBG leaves Solly isolated. JBG can't be dropped and if teamed with Wiggins it would leave the defence further exposed. Lepoint looks meh. JJ looks heavy footed and struggling to impose himself on games. Buyens doesn't care, and the lad from Spurs is injured. 4-5-1 can't be an option as either Vetokele or Watt need a partner, and they are our best strikers. This RD, KM and Luzon - shows how horribly unbalanced we are. Sort it out.
Wilson; Cousins; Gudmundsson; Harriott. Bob has severely damaged Wilson as a player, I liked him last year and would give him another go. Gudmundsson was terrific in the middle against Cardiff- try him there again. Put Cousins where he belongs. Harriott is the best we've got on the left. When he gave the ball away on tuesday I liked the way he hared back to make an interception just outside our 6-yard box. And if he doesn't play Bulot will- probably will anyway.
If I had any say in it, this would be my team, with this exact line-up: please log in to view this image For subs: Marko Dmitrović Joe Gomez Christophe Lepoint Simon Church Morgan Fox Chris Solly Karlan Ahearne-Grant As you can see, with the exception of Ben Haim & Watt, none of the filthy network...
Surely Roger Johnson has to play instead of Liability Bikey tomorrow. And Henderson is a no-brainer if he is fit.
Totally. But this is a Luzon Saturday team. So we'll most likely have Bulot, Buyens and some other useless t055er in the team.
I reckon Dmitrovic has probably had the misfortune to wander in to the team when any goalkeeper will get hung out to dry. Definately on efor the future. Sadly, while JJ is clearly Charlton through and through, we need someone with better legs in the middle. I'd love to see him given a coaching job, or simply a place on the bench to counterbalance the presence of 'crouching' Luzón, but I just can't see him having the legs to turn around what's going on on the pitch.
Thoughts? Principally thank f*** you aren't picking the team, becausing Bulot was brilliant today and Jackson put in an admirable shift in the first half and Buyens in the second. We cannot know what the score would have been without them. But almost certainly not 3-0!
I think the two are symbiotically related, are they not? The negativity of certain supporters throwing their toys out of the pram in recent weeks has been as depressing as the poor form of the team. Thankfully, they are unrepresentative of the vast majority. I'm assuming you were there this afternoon, SuperChrissy, so you will have heard that 98 per cent of the supporters are totally behind the team and that the walk-out Royston and Reamsofverse are attempting to organise will be ignored by nine out of ten supporters.
I really am pleased that we managed a victory at long last. Well done to the team as it sounded like they put in the effort and players like Bulot had a good game. I hope this continues and we move up the table. I have still major reservations about Roland and his Chief Exec. If you read Wendy Perfects description of Meire you wil see what i mean. This result should give the team a boost and hopefuly we can get a result at Wigan and push them further into the relegation quick sand.
I agree entirely KA. The team and manager get a good win and still Guy Luzon is the subject of some personal slights on another thread. The negative lot will point out it's just one win but a good one with 3 goals and a clean sheet nonetheless and momentum builds from the confidence of such a result.
Part of the fun is saying what team you'd pick BEFORE the game.Easy to be wise afterwards. A shame if people stop picking their own team in case they get it wrong. If they do we all know anyway without being told. How many would have picked Bulot on past performances? Not me! Today he was a class above anything we've seen from him before. Let's hope he keeps it up, and our LM problems will be solved. I didn't think Buyens was any better than OK.
@Kent Addick Just for the record, you won't find any post in which I call for a "walk out", so get your facts right old son or you will be leaving your 3rd Charlton site in a sulk. I suggested a ST Renewal boycott. Not the same thing.
Walk-outs or boycotts, same thing and ain't going to happen, as you would have realised if you were there saturday and saw how 98 per cent of genuine supporters behave, as opposed to the tiny minority of permanent moaners, like you and Everitt! As for sulks, I gave that up when I was two or three. You should try it. Old son(?)
Not at all. I probably won't be renewing, and if I do it will be a late decision after last season, when they offered early-bird reductions then scrapped the deadline. I also want to see what our squad will be, whether Igor, Watt and Gudmundsson will be sold and whether or not I like what rolo's scouts come up with. I'll go to the games I want to rather than give unqualified commitment to rolo's Network experiment. How is that the same as walking out?
How many Charlton supporters actually attended yesterday? 10,000? Less? That means 5000 have already voted with their feet since our first season back up under Powell.
That's how I saw it. Lots of people in the pubs before and after - guys who went to Charlton - but no longer going to the games. There were large sections of the ground where there were row after of empty seats. As mentioned - I've never attended a cup game but I imagine it to be like what I saw.
