so, I was sorely tempted to flag this as 'Off Topic', but thought the Mods have enough work on their hands already! I'd like to see: Green Isla. Ferdinand. Caulker. Yun Phillips. Sandro. Barton. Hoilett Taarabt Vargas If Sandro's broken again, replace him with Henry, and for the last 30 when Taarabt gets tired, replace him with Zarate or if we're chasing the game then move him left wing and play Vargas and Zarate up front. Thoughts?
The selection for Sunderland was not what almost any fan would have gone for but the performance was excellent. I say go for the same side with Austin in for Fer (I believe he's fit again).
----------------------------------Green----------------------------- Isla---------------Caulker--------------Ferdinand----------Yun ---------------------Barton------------Sandro-------------------- Vargas----------------------Taarabt---------------------Zarate -----------------------------Austin----------------------------------
Austin in for Fer would make it a completely different team by changing to a 4-4-2 from a 4-5-1 I'd bring Austin in for BZ and Zarate in for Fer. As Zarate (unlike BZ or Austin) is capable of playing number 10 role and carrying ball forward with pace just as Fer did. Would also bring Adel in for Krancjar
Dropping Matty Phillips would be a Harryesque mistake. He needs to build on what he achieved at Sunderland.
Totally agree, constancy of selection will give confidence to the players and show those not in the team, if they do work hard to get in they will stay there. It breeds competition for places that will move the squad forward. Maybe this is why CR is getting more out of them so quickly as he has outlined this to them behind the scenes.
Possibly, but as I've never rated him, I thought I should remain true to myself. If he does the same again, I may have to reappraise my opinion of him. Also, I really like Vargas and I want him in the team. I don't want to play 4-4-2 away from home, so that also governs who I select and who gets left out. I'd consider leaving Kranjcar in though, as I thought he was very good against Sunderland. However, you may be right and maybe we should let the same players prove that it wasn't a flash in the pan, plus Kranjcar did play very well, so maybe he should start again too. Austin can come on as an impact sub and it may do him good to think he needs to fight for his place. ------------------------------Green-------------------------- Isla----------Caulker--------------Ferdinan----------Yun ------------------Barton----------Henry-------------------- Phillips-------------------Taarabt---------------Kranjcar ---------------------------Zamora---------------------------
..............................-Green----------------------------- Isla---------------Caulker--------------Ferdinand----------Yun ---------------------Barton------------Henry------------------- Phillips .......................Kranky ----------------------Taarabt----- -----------------------------Zamora------------------------------- I do not think we would risk Austin and Sandro yet..there is another layoff after the Hull match isn't there Zarate/Vargas should finish the match coming on for Taarbs or Zamora or if chasing Henry
Only changes I'd make would be the forced one of Adel for Fer, and Sandro for Henry if they are both fit again. Play same system.
I can't say I get the clamour for Sandro. Has Henry really been that bad that we'd throw in a bloke who never completes 90 minutes and hsnt played for months in his place in such a crucial game?
I like Vargas too but I don't remember him having a good game for a long time. Phillips should be first name on the team sheet right now and if Vargas can be fitted in with Austin up top then great but not on the wing which isn't his natural game.
I think Henry has done well, but especially with Fer out and for me replaced by Adel, I think I think we'd need the extra toughness and especially aerial power that Sandro has, if he's fit enough of course. I'd keep OBZ starting if he's fit enough, rather than Austin. He did very well at Sunderland, and I think he is far better at playing the lone role in front of a three of Phillips, Adel and Krancjar, than Austin. Haven't reckoned much to Austin the last few games, let him fight to get his place, and hopefully come on and score as a late sub if he's needed.
Its great to see that we are now believing in our players Great times again We have so many options and refreshing that CR will work them all I am thinking of going to Hull anyone else going from here?
Same team as Sunderland but with Chazza in for Fer. It won't be quite the same because Austin isn't a number 10 so the midfield won't be going into a five when on the defensive. But he plays well off Bobby and likes crosses going into him which hopefully M.Phillips will provide.
Stick to fairly much the same starting line up from the Sunderland but with either Vargas/Zareta/Taarabt replacing Fer...... Austin as an Impact sub when OBZ tires....
