Have a look at the back of the Journal today? You have to laugh but out of pity not admiration.

Short of actually saying that he was a boyhood mag (every celebrity or linked player is according to the NE biased press) they are trying to say that Ba is relieved to have eventually got his dream move to one of the best clubs in the world.

If ever a region was desperately trying to put a brave face on some pretty averge signings, noocarsel do it so well. We apprently could only make the siginings of Brown, O Shea and Vaughan as we have off loaded Riveros on loan for a season? We are cash strapped and they are bringining in World class stars?

I mean you couldnt make this utter cak up could you?

Oh, they have?

On a serious note apart from Ba I could not tell you who the mags have signed, I know they are French. I know nothingand care even less about them and have not been on their board talking about them.

TBF the vast majority of their fans dont follow us to the extent chapie does, why is he so obsessed?

Because he knows deep down that the players they have signed are a total gamble and the only way he can make that better is to come on here and try and convince himself that our signings are really ****e ones?

Let him keep believing it if it helps him do his homework and sleep at night?

The cock.

I was a if he comes he comes person, and now he's here that's good, especially at that price..

But that's whats bugging me, (not in a bad way). Yesterday we were expecting him to come at a cost of £4m. Bit steep maybe but we accepted it.

Then today he comes for £1m, how?

I know that's the deal, but all iv'e heard for days is, "he has vast experience, you don't play for man u etc" so how do we get an ex international player for £1m, when surely he could have gone for a higher figure, maybe Stioke or someone.

What kind of deal (if any) do you think may have been struck between MUFC and SAFC? Not complaining, just perplexed.

You know the old saying "if it looks to good to be true"...There has to be more to this.£1m, it's crazy...in a good way.

Could be as simple as Bruce being a former captain of Fergie, it's like if i'm selling my car, it's on Autotrader for 20k, i might sell it my mate for 18k.

Either that or he wants McCartney on the cheap.

Reports say Gibson valued at 5m due to his age which means O Shea is at 6m and he played more games than Rio Ferdinand last season. Brown only played 7 gamkes all told and will therefore attract less money, although Man Utd benefit by taking a wage off their books as well.

Dont get hung up on the prices. We have signed 2 highly experienced defenders and that will make us a much better organised team IMO.

But let's not dismiss the notion that he might wanna bag McCartney (or an Audi a4 for 20k <whistle>)

Have to agree with Dr Cest - also they have played together for a good long while and ought not to need any time to settle down...

One Newcastle fans view from their board
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Players NUFC should sign: Wes Brown
Continuing on from yesterday I have added another player to my blog. This summer I think we should sign Wes Brown.
Sol Campbell will no doubt leave the club in the summer, or maybe even move into the coaching staff so that will leave us one centre defender down.

My choice to fill this position would be Wes Brown from Manchester United. Brown came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford and has been a solid squad member for the past 10 years, but has never really been a constant starter. Brown has bags of experience and could help our younger / less experienced defenders learn the game. You do not spend your entire career at Man Utd and pick up England caps if you are not quality.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

could he be right? I think he could well be.

Here's his interview.....

There is no doubt that he is a good defender, I just hope that he can stay fit. What is interesting in his interview is that he states that he was fit to play all last season, but didn't get the opportunity to play as often as he would like.

That is very encouraging :)

I thought he would cost us about £4m, so to get him for £1m, more than offsets his longer than expected contract.

Where the hell did I say that? Oh yeah, I didn't.

'Too old' is not the same as 'too much experience'. I'd actually have said that Brown was a good signing if you guys could have got him on, say, a 2 year contract, or even a yearly rolling contract. It would have been a good buy based on a sound financial decision, which is going to get more and more important once the fair play rules come in. Don't forget that teams will only be able to spend what they make, so for clubs like ours it's gonna be vital that we can buy AND sell players to keep the money flowing.

SAF has a reason. That's what would worry me. In his 25 or so years of being manager, pretty much every single selling decision he's made has gave him the best results. It's a rich club, so if Sir Alex is flogging a player with two years left on his contract for a measly million quid, he has a very good reason.

Unless of course, SAF was unwilling to give Brown any longer of a contract, so Brown knew that Sunderland was his last hope to get a big contract which sets him up until retirement.

Or (whilst recognising a degree of smoke being blown up the arse of Wes Brown on his way out by SAF)

"He was a product of the youth system and marked himself out from an early age as one of his generation's most natural defenders." which is what SAF says about him on the MUFC web-site

OK - going a tad too far but he`s a decent player, has a fantastic pedigree and will help us out when we need it

Oh he might, we'll just have to wait and see. Much in the same way I'm gonna wait and see whether Ba still has his dodgy knee. Time will tell for us all.

Chappaz,

some time back there was a thread on here about Mags we respected, you came top of the list and were praised by many, including me, and have given you positive rep in the past too (I know this rep thing is important to you Mags).

So from that starting point - you're like a ****ing stuck record mate. If someone criticised the translation I've just finished, I'd listen to what they'd say. I suppose I would do the same if they had a go at the rest of the work I'd done today. Then if they thought my work on Monday & on Tuesday & on Wednesday this week was also ****e I think I'd give up reasonable debate and give them childish abuse back.

What would it be if we signed Messi for €20m?

- Unproven in the EPL.
- Has only played in Spanish-speaking countries so can't communicate with his team-mates.
- Will drop us at the first opportunity for Chelsea or Man Utd.
- Could break his leg the first game and then where would we be?

No no no no no no no. No.

Couldn't be more wrong. I'm not purposely talking **** about your signings. I'm just being honest. 100%. I haven't been impressed with any of your signings so far, and I've provided clear reasons why which I doubt many of you can outright disagree with.

When you make a good impressive signing, I will admit it. I really don't mind doing so. For example, I think O'Shea would be a good signing as long as the contract isn't massive. If you guys sign a top, top player, I'll admit my bubbling jealousy. If you signed Messi I'd die inside.

Players like Brown, Wickham, Ji-dong and so on, if you had asked me about them a year ago I would have said the exact same thing, and I'd say the same thing if they signed for us.

I don't think it's over yet though. It's still early days.
