You had me worried for a minute, I was thinking there must have been some new historical evidence unearthed or something!
I was there. England were awful. Only the incredible awfulness of Italy made us look good. The way we've been this 6 Nations, any of the Southern Hemisphere sides will bumrape us.
Blimey ... Terminal 1 at Heathrow is dead. they are closing it in June and today there are only three other flights after mine tonight. It is weird sat in a ghost town that is normally mentally busy.
Yeah, I wouldn't be able to get my head round that. It certainly won't be like that when I fly to the States from Terminal 4 in July.
I arrived late in Gatwick and popped into the loo. When I came out it was empty. It was so weird because you normally just shuffle along with everyone else....I was quite spooked walking down long empty corridors until I caught up at Passport Control.
Apparently (having now asked I am ITK), it is being merged into a new, refurbed terminal 2. It's bizarre. No people watching. Oh well, my boss will spill his wine when my report pops into his screen on time!!!! For a change.
The Ski-Jumping world record was broken twice over the weekend. These guys looked like they were flying, which in a sense they were: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/winter-sports/31473251
“Kidults” could be a better term for those in their twenties, according to research which suggests that people do not become adults until about 25. The adolescent desires of sensation-seeking and novelty in the brain increase as individuals leave home and fend for themselves, Beatriz Luna, a psychiatrist the Pittsburgh School of Medicine, believes. Previously, such desires were thought to peak at 15, but new studies found that they extend far beyond this age http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/adulthood-begins-at-25-says-new-research-10046934.html
I presume that is a considered average because, in all honesty, I'd say it was even later than 25, in many individuals. That's not a 56 year old pulling the life experience rank either. Given the rise of the ultra modern society and all it entails I think people do need longer to mature into reasonable, responsible human beings. Goodness knows it was hard enough for the children of my generation. We were the first to have to contemplate how to achieve responsibility in getting oneself employed when there was little infrastructure to cope with mass unemployment or otherwise education. That really turns you into an adult and some couldn't cope in the face of society turning its face away. And then there were the beginnings of learning to be tolerant and to embrace other cultures and people. Older generations didn't face it, younger generations began to be educated in it. Today, it's just too much to ask that the average person can be well rounded by the age of 18, in my view. There are just too many things to assimilate and judge logically and fairly. What does that say of the drive to lower the age of voting, for example..? Hot topic.
I think people are maturing later in our society at least, because growing up isn't forced on them. In the past (even before my generation), teenagers had to get a job and handle their money...no credit cards then to cope when the money ran out. My mother-in-law got on a train at thirteen years old and went from Cheltenham to London for a job in service (the first trip she had ever taken). She never lived at home again.
Jeepers.... I've still not grown up and no intention of doing so! Live life with a smile on your face as if you've been a mischievous little boy
