Jo has failed at City, went on loan to Everton and failed there too. It's quite apparent he can't hack the Premier league anywhere but on Football Manager 2011. This is a terrible idea. Either get a proven PL striker or risk getting a player with a proven goalscoring record abroad and hope he can cut it in the Prem but not a guy with a proven record of failing to score in the Prem.
As for Brown, I think everyone has said it well enough. NO!!

I'd have O'Shea, would be ideal for us to be honest.

Cover for RB, CB & LB. Yes, O'Shea would be useful for us.

O Shea - Just not what we need really. We need an Alan Hutton type to give us an attacking threat from right back. Hutton can play a bit. I'm not saying we need Hutton, I'd just like a right back with a bit more culture than Danny Simpson. I'm not sure O Shea would provide that. Different teams have different needs and Bruce has gone for two guys who can play in more than one position. They've had a lot of injuries in defensive areas so it beefs the squad up. If he's spent your left back money on them I'd be livid though!!

Simpson is a good defender, tenacious. He could be our Andy Griffin type, the guy you bring in when you want someone kicked. We then need a footballing type full back to complement him.

On a side note I wonder if Sunderland have got the best they could with Brown. If rumours are to be believed Carlos Cuellar is available for 3m. He is 28 or 29, a much better defender and can play the same two roles Brown can?
