Pompey v Exeter http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31423469 Stats: Pompey: start 16th Highest realistic finish 15th Lowest realistic finish 20th Grecians: start 9th Highest realistic finish 8th Lowest possible finish* 13th Last 6 Pompey: 1-3-2 - - 6 [18th] Grecians: 1-3-2 - - 6 [19th] Pompey last 6 home - 2-1-3 - - 7 [18th] Grecians last 6 away - 2-2-2 - - 8 [11th] Pompey Home to top half: 7 - - 2-2-3 - - 1.14/g [16th] Exeter Away to bottom half: 7 - - 5-1-1 - - 2.29/g [3rd] So current form suggests it could go either way. However, the one worrying factor from Pompey's point of view is Exeter's excellent record away to bottom half sides! * After Morecambe v Dagenham & Redbridge on Sunday
Got a good feeling today............. I think we're going for a win! 3-2 to Pompey. I'm absolutely lash at predictions though
Paul Jones Joe Devera Paul Robinson Jack Whatmough Josh Passley James Dunne Danny Hollands Dan Butler Jed Wallace Ryan Taylor Matt Tubbs Subs Nigel Atangana Ben Chorley Conor Chaplin Andy Barcham Michael Poke Craig Westcarr Johnny Ertl
Not so much a massacre Lapras.............. just a few panics maybe....... Sounds like they may be cancelling each other out.
Judging by the BBC stats, a massacre is still on the cards. Seriously, 45 minutes at home without a shot on target while the opposition have had 4? We may have had more corners, but I bet most of them are stupid short corners
Jed Wallace, made to wait and wait and wait by the Ref smashes a penalty into row ZZ in the Fratton End.
So after 30 games we are 16th with 37 points. 1 year ago today we were, also after 30 games, in 20th with 33 points. A small improvement it may be, but an improvement it is nether-the-less
Three hard earned points today. To my mind, we deserved the win. Superb winning goal from Jed. Cynical foul by Exeter for us to win the penalty. Bad miss by Jed though, but he bounced back with the winner. Brilliant shot by James Dunne that hit the bar, as did a very impressive Josh Passley in the first half. Poor Dan Butler had a nightmare of a match, he appears to have lost his confidence. Our three centrebacks were excellent, and play so well together. Please don't recall Ben Chorley, Awfs. Exeter are a good team, so very happy with the win today.
Did any of the Exeter players take their boots off? It looks weird honest it does. I did warn you about the extra hard kicks and extra keeper reach. Anyway we have them next week so thanks for softening them up for us. The extra fingers and toes doesn't affect us from Plymouth as our keeper has 4arms. I know it's true because I saw a text from him once telling his mate he was having a tatoo on each of them.
I suppose I was a bit harsh in my earlier post.... Perhaps we are at a turning point. Who knows? Hartlepool, well they were bottom but Exeter is top 10. Maybe we can start to go on a run, but I'm not gonna start feeling positive again until we win at least 2 of the next three or four games, and win away. Still don't think we'll make the play-offs though.
There's no way we'll make the play off's this year, but I think Gary Waddock's influence is showing now. AA is determined to make his 3-5-2 formation work even though he doesn't really have the players in their right positions. Still it's a work in progress. I did like Jed's reaction.................. Well done Pompey. Have you finished flirting with non-league footy now? Missing a penalty is always horrible for the fans. Saints missed one a couple of weeks ago, though admittedly that was the first one since 1997 (helps if you have Le Tiss and Rickie taking them )
Watching the highlights earlier today it looked like we could have had four goals with a bit more like - hitting the bar twice, Jed's penalty and his goal - and it seems we're getting a bit of confidence again.
Make the most of it O Smug One................. the good times don't last forever................ just ask manure I see one of your old players was giving it bbb on how they were going to beat us yesterday was given a bit of humble pie for his Valentines dinner
