That's an impressive bit of trolling.

Some Americans are so weird to us that it would be very hard to judge truth from fiction.

I recorded an album with one of the bands I look after on the island a few years back, at Arreton Manor. Don't know if you know it Fran?

Arreton Manor used to be open to the public (I visited it before I even moved to the Island), but is now a private house/hotel. It is a shame in some ways as one thing we lack here are houses to visit (always popular with tourists). A lovely old house.

Yes, and beautiful it is too. I'd visit more, especially the garden, if it wasn't so expensive. Shame you can't buy a garden only ticket. However, it is the only one. I visited so many places when I lived in Sussex and Surrey...spoilt for properties there. I did visit Brading Roman Villa on Friday...really enjoyed it, because, although the tea room was busy, the villa wasn't. A guide gave us a personal tour with history. My son said that would have bored him stupid, but that is because the young have no soul (and would rather look at a virtual villa than a real one)...it was great.

    Thanks Fran; how much?

My wife and I keep saying we need to take the kids to the IOW (and I agree so I can show my son St George's Park - a brief part of his Dad's football history :))

Might do a long weekend in the summer.

Adults about £12, but there are family tickets for under £30. Osborne is well worth seeing...big house with wonderful views plus Swiss Cottage (a house built in grounds for Victoria's children), large garden and park and they have now opened Victoria's private beach. Best to see St George's before the planned supermarket is built nearby or on top of it (they can't make up their minds).

What??? That's a shame if that goes. Have they fallen far from grace now? Used to get crowds of about 800-1000 for league games. We had something like 3,000 for an FA Cup against Aldershot once.

Thanks for pricing - I want to be wheeled into the sea in Victoria's changing room for a private splash :) (the body isn't what it used to be!)

They've lost all their money, but are still functioning in a lower league. I think plans involved the football ground somewhere, but 2 supermarkets have been bickering for the last couple of years. We absolutely do not need another supermarket, but it is all part of the supermarket wars...they hope to drive one of the others out.

I think Andy is trying to sell it actually (at least he certainly was a couple of years back) - I'm sure we can all club together!

There's some amazing parts of it actually, including the floor where there are indents from the monks kneeling in that spot. Meant to be haunted too.

He got most of the money to buy the place from co-writing the Big Brother theme tune!
