Newcastle make 5m + Best - Long bid

    What do you think of Shane Long, i think he has been class in the championship and i think he can make the step up, he's different to the likes of Nugent or Chopra who long the Championship but just cant make it in the premier league.
    he could be a 10+ goal striker next season and maybe more and more as he developes, He's quick, good in the air and can score goals, i would have him 10 fold over Erdnic and maybe losing Best wouldn't be so bad if we get a quality striker in, and would be much better than Wickam for the price.

    Thought?

    Hard to know. The Irish boys seem to make a habit of comfortably stepping from the c,ship to the premiership (e.g. keane, Doyle, Hunt), but it is still a gamble nonetheless. However Best was not exactly setting the c,ship alight but made a solid name for himself when given the chance last season.

    Yeah I think it's just rumours atm but I think Long is ok. Give him a shot.

    Shane Long = 10 goal + striker.

    Best = Scored 6 goals in 9 games. (may have been 11? I dont know. You get the point I'm trying to make.)

    Dont see why we should get rid of Best to make this happen, and didnt someone say Long only has about a 1 in 4 record, even in the Championship?

    Best has yet to grasp the concept of "off side" though, totally useless in that respect. He also got three of those goals against the worst West Ham side in 30 years.

    You mean he scored a hattrick against Championship quality opposition? Damn then Long, a player who has proven himself against Championship quality opposition must be much better <whistle>.

    I'm not opposed to signing Long, I just like Best and dont see why we are flogging him instead of Ameobi/Lovens.

    Everyone always says that, so what if he did? It's not often you score a hat trick against a class team. Even if you discount it he still got a goal every 3 games.

    but thats over four full seasons starting when he was 18, he got 24 goals last season

    Because they're ****e! If we offered Shola/Lover we'd have to pay them £8m instead of £5m!

    I'd rather play £3m extra so we can have three decent strikers (Ba, Best, Long) than having just Ba & Long with the likes of Shola & Lovens back up.

    Mark Douglas, the guy that writes for the Journal/Chron said on twitter earlier that he'd spoken to club insider today and no bid has been made.

    Long is our 4th choice after Erdinc, we havent got a definite answer on him yet so we probably havent bid for Long (yet).

    True dat, problem is that Shola ain't going nowhere. No one wants him and he's got a couple of years left on his contract. I reckon Lover will be decent backup with good players around him.

    5mil plus Ameobi or Ranger, but not Best ffs. He's the only player we have that's got a good goals/game ratio in the PL
