A wonderful relative, in Chopwell, has researched the Scott family history back over 400 years, the detail is incredible.
I can go back from my Dad, my Grandad directly to the time of the Reivers in the area around Abbotsford & Jedburgh.

If you're a Scott I can send you the history which will amaze you ........ these aren't mythical figures, they're my family, perhaps yours.

There's no such thing as 'distant relations' in my opinion. If you're a Scott, from the Borders it's very likely we're related.

I'll need to ask my relative for permission but, if you're a Scott, there should be no problem in sending you a copy of the family history.
It's possible you can fill in a few gaps <ok>

If your family are originally from Northumberland/Borders then there's every chance you're related.
If you have any Armstrongs, Littles, Kerrs in your family it's almost guaranteed.
Send a pm and I'll happily 'grill you' on your suitability to be informed <laugh>

Will do but I know embarrassingly little about my dads side other than the family story that we are descendants of reivers - it was a project I was saving up for retirement which is still as few years off yet!!!
My mothers side manages to hook in the bloke who built the Titanic so I've always seen that as the most interesting side.

My lovely relative, from Chopwell, has spent 20 years travelling throughout the Borders & Scotland researching the Scotts. She has an ancient book, for which she paid a small fortune, that talks about a meeting between Sir Walter Scott and one of my/our relatives from Singdean.

    I've sent a pm.
