These 4 are the only players to feature in both the lists of first team players and reserve players on arsenal.com

    What could this mean?
That they are ready for the first team? They are being looked at carefully in pre-season? That they've been cloned and there is now 2 of each of them? That the people who run the club website have no idea what they are doing?

Let me know what you think about this conundrum...

They are being looked at carefully in pre-season.

They may be needed if Cesc, Samir, Andre and Theo leave and if as seems likely Wenger and Gazidis don't sign anyone.

Frimpong can make it. Lansbury too (has he signed a new contract yet?)

I don't think Eastmond or JET will be Arsenal players for much longer.

It is because they had squad numbers at the start of last season, I believe.
Henderson, Miquel and Shea were given squad numbers during the season, so maybe Arsenal.com should have added them to the first team page.

I'll rate them in order of likelihood to succeed:
    Lansbury
    Frimpong

    JET

    Eastmond.

I actually think Frimpong has more chance than Lansbury, because of the position they play in. Lansbury would be a good squad player in midfield, while Frimpong could cover well for Song and eventually take over from him. That is not the case with Lansbury, as he is competing with Fabregas, Ramsey, Wilshere, Diaby and maybe Denilson. He is bettter than Diaby and Denilson, but the rest he is not.

Lansbury has more chance in my opinion. The injury to Frimpong has seen Coquelin overtake him as the better player and there's pressure to buy someone like M.Diarra as proven talent. Lansbury however is a great utility player. Capable of playing on the wings, in the centre, as an AM or whatever. He can play in more than one position where Frimpong is merely a DM.

Frimpong has an advantage over Coquelin. While Emmanuel will be involved heavily with the first team training and pre-season games, Francis will be in Uruguay playing in the under-20 world cup. This could have a massive effect on Coquelin, who after an impressive loan spell in France should be pushing for a place in Wengers squad.

You're right about the WC. It's a tough one. I hope the best player wins.

also, Lansbury has said himself (can't find a link right now) that he wants to be a first team player, and therefore might leave the club. However, i think he will stay and play this season, and if he feels he isn't getting enough playing time, he can always go on loan in the premier league for a few months.

but i remember last season people were touting frimpong to break into the first team, not quite like wilshere, but he was going to be challenging Song until his injury. coquelin and lansbury were not in this position and were always going to go on loan. however, they might be this season, especially with the apparent exodus of fringe players like denilson, bendtner, etc.

I know that he should have been Song's back up, but he's had a serious injury and that can really wreck a player's chances. Just ask Lansbury (illness)

I personally don't think Lansbury will make it at Arsenal. I think he's a mid-level prem player.

<ok> <ok> <ok> I agree i like the energy he brings but i dont rate him any higher than i did Bentlety when he was at the club - I think Lansbury will find his chances heavily limited and I can honestly see him sent out on loan again or sold - maybe norwich again?

Will probably end up at a mid table/relegation battling club like Bentley did <ok>

I like Henri Lansbury, but, to say he is better than Diaby is going a bit far lol

People need to remember that football is a squad game. Players like Henri Lansbury will be massively important if they stay.
Some people seem to think we can have 25 world class players, and keep everyone happy.
Look at Manchester United and a player like John O'Shea, who has been massively important to Ferguson over the years, and has the medals as a reward for his loyalty.

JayRams opinion of Lansbury is an absolute joke, btw.

Has Frimpong decided on his nationality yet? By this I mean who he's playing for. Can't he play for either England or one of the African C.O.N? It's be nice to finally have proper DM cover but not if he's also going to feck off to Africa with Song and leave us doubley short.

    Could be wrong though.

Frimpong has Ghanaian nationality, and will play for them I believe.

Francis Coquelin has stepped up a few levels while at Lorient, shame he will miss pre-season as he is at the Under-20s world cup in Uruguay. He has moved ahead of Frimpong, imo, but missing pre-season will be massively detrimental for the Frenchman.

    Cardiff fan here.

Just like to say JET wasn't that impressive with us last season. Did some things well and is a big, strong guy but I don't think he is even a premier league player, nevermind Arsenal.

Saying that though, he is young and I'm usually wrong about most things, so...
