To be honest I have said all along that he wouldn't be my choice but he's here now so gets my support. It was your comment about wages that ****ed me off. None really knows what players are on as that's quite rightly done in private. Don't know owt about the French lads you've signed but would've loved Ba here.
I think it is a good sign that the Mags are slagging off our signings. Remember the flak we got last year when we signed Titus.
FFS why are we remotely bothered about the skunks and how they view our signings.Surely they ought to be worried about where and when the Carroll cash is to be invested (no real signs as yet), if Fat Mike keeps the dollar then will Pardew walk - as a matter of principle?
It'll be at least £5million-£6million, but probably more. £20k per week is £1mill a year, so that's £4million. Being an ex Man Utd player though, I expect him to be on a fair bit more than that, don't you? I'd personally only ever be happy with good young players who have a re-sale value. That way, we can eventually sell players on and sustain our finances into the future.
We have the youngest, or one of the youngest, squads in the EPL, and it cost us last season. These players can make a huge difference off the park, and a significant impact on it.
Well that's true, and you guys are looking for experience, but the entire situation just doesn't seem worth it to me. Paying what will amount to £7million+ to get Wes Brown from the ages of 32-36 in the injury-prone period of his career. If you genuinely think that's good business, or a 'brilliant deal' as some have said, then that's fair enough.
I very much doubt the wages will be massive. I think maybe 25k, or £1.3million a year, ish. He won't have expected to keep his United wages after making few appearances, and i think he's moved because he wants to play. I'm not doing catwheels, i'd have taken or left him, but i don't feel the financial deal will be huge, the club wouldn't be so naive after the Keane/Drumaville contracts fiasco.
What a very strange way to look at a Premier League quality footballer who at 32, still has at least 2 full years at his peak. Just because your leader (fat boy slim) has decided to off load your best experienced, goal scoring players, in favour of unknow, dubious fitness cheap foreigners, dont get jealous about our signings. Cock
Chappaz, pourquoi ne pas vous aller forniquer avec des moutons dans les collines de Newcastle et de laisser vos supérieurs pour parler de football.
You are right, he is "old" and SAF isnt an idiot so probably offered him a lower wage contract. He come to us cos he at wants to be playing footie while on a lower wage packet, rather than being on a lower wage and not playing football. There is absolutely nothing to say that Quinn would have given him a high wage at his age --> Quinn and Short aint stupid and know about the UEFA rules that are coming into play. And since when a wages counted when signing a player? Henderson was sold for 20m, but will cost liverpool closer to 30million including his wages (about 50k a week imo), 4 year contract. they probably will pay out 45 million for Carrol in total. so 7 million for Brown doesnt seem so much when compared against other transfers and fees.
He's moved because he wants his last big contract. Without a doubt. SAF would not offer him a 4 year deal, but Sunderland have at a decent wage, so now he's GUARANTEED an extra £4-6 million in the bank by the time he retires. It's the same reason why Nolan left. And you're right, it won't be a huge or dangerous financial deal, but I can't see why some people are ****ing Bruce off and claiming that it's such a brilliant deal and a bargain. It isn't by any stretch of the imagination. SAF has came out on top, as always. Oh come on, he's well past his peak. He's becoming more injury prone as time goes on. Some players can last the distance up until 34/35, I somehow doubt that Wes Brown is one of the those players. If he was, SAF would not have sold him. Simple as that. It won't be huge. £50,000-80,000 a week is huge. However, he's a player who (somehow) has a huge footballing pedigree, so he won't be cheap as chips. I reckon around £25-£35k a week. Hopefully the figures will be leaked out.
Chappaz was harping on about our other signings not having enough experience, and now he's saying that Brown has too much experience...This little lady boy always has and always will slag anything we do...
