Sunderland have always been bigger then Hull City and they have had far more success then us. One club city, with generation upon generation brought up on supporting a successful local club.
They didn't lose a generation of supporters whilst the club floundered at the bottom of the Football League like we did.
They have the monopoly on the local media who support the club 100% all the time.
They have a bigger and better ground then us.
And perhaps they market the club better and don't treat their own fans with contempt?
In the same position with their pedigree Hull City would fill a 40,000 stadium.

The Castle Street solution should be better than what is currently on offer. We've been fobbed off with foot bridges.

Whoooaaa!!!!! 'Fobbed off with footbridges' ? Luxury. I think you will find out that we will get fobbed off with taking down a couple of barriers and widening the existing crossings.

We're about to spend a couple of million tarting up the city centre, I'd set all that money aside to build the land bridge, if that's what it takes to make it happen.

That's exactly what we want - sink the road and have a land bridge across to the marina. They wouldn't accept these footbridges in London I bet, so why should we accept them here?

Sorry, mate, I love Hull but that is just bollocks. Newcastle is busy, vibrant, fun.I walked through Hull town centre at 1030 0n Tuesday night and I expected Will Smith and his son to appear, it was tragically deserted. I noticed all of the Manor boarding, it was sad, so I had another bevvy. Only huge investment and a touch of genius can change what is simply wrong.

I remember going to see City at Sunderlandvwith about 13,000 there when we were getting 20,000 for home games. The only success they had from the 1930suntil,1973 was their cup win against Leeds.Admittedly they had never played outside the top flight until the 1960s.
What is funny is I have seen some of our more deluded fans claim they should be out of the PL as we are bigger them. Have seen similar remarks about Wolves, Burnley, Derby, Leicestervand others in the past who have far more of a history than we have.
As I have said before yourself and I had discussions years ago about how it would be great if we had any success and then we would have the sort of away followings the likes of Sunderland used to bring here. It hasn't worked out that way though, unfortunately.

I was only talking about the location of Hull geographically. You and OLM both seem to have misunderstood me.

People say we're in the middle of nowhere, but don't say it about places right at the extreme North of the country, and they say they'd rather go shopping in Leeds than stay in Hull to do it, which suggests it must be close enough to be convenient.

But Newcastle isn't geographically isolated, is it? It has Whitley Bay/Tynemouth to the East, Morpeth and the coast to the North, Sunderland, Gateshead,Washington and Durham all an easy commute to the south and the Tyne Valley down to Hexham. All offer nightlife and good family pubs and recreation. I live bang in the centre of the Durham/Sunderland/Newcastle triangle and go to either for a night or day out, great beaches and proms are only 15mins away. In Newcastle there is plenty to entertain anyone, so no it's not isolated in any way - 2hr 50mins on train to London, less to Edinburgh. Hull is in a backwater and it has adopted that mentality and outlook. I drove to the KC on Tuesday to pick up my ticket and was horrified at the wasteland that Walton St, the horrendous litter plastered all over our ground and the general feel of shabbiness it had.

I don't know why someone doesn't build a sports village there...

After being in Division 1 for 57 years Sunderland were relegated in 1958. Up to that point they were the only team to have never played outside the top flight.
