Sebastian Giovinco has gone to the MLS so not an option. Can't say I've heard of many of the others... Romero is the keeper isn't he?
Where is Brendan Rodgers? Liverpool FC boss is overseas on club matters Where is Brendan Rodgers? That was the first question of Thursday’s press conference at Melwood, and was answered by Colin Pascoe in his typical wit: “He had to shoot off after the game sharpish as he had a meeting in Europe,” he said. “It’s a club matter and it’s none of your business.” Quite right, too. In Rodgers’ absence, plenty of questions have been asked of his whereabouts. One of the theories is he’s overseas scouting a player, although such claims were backhanded by Pascoe. But that doesn’t stop the speculation, even with five months to go until the transfer window reopens. Here’s five games on the continent Rodgers could have been at last night, complete with players he could have been watching. And if he wasn’t, maybe he should have stopped by... SPAIN – Barcelona v Villarreal Luciano Vietto: The 21-year-old striker has been linked with a move to the Premier League after a superb season in La Liga with Villarreal. Now on the cusp of a call-up to the Argentina squad, he possesses a deft touch and good finish. Played the full game at Camp Nou in the Copa del Rey. SPAIN – Athletic Bilbao v Espanyol Iker Muniain: Pacey, talented forward who can play either out wide or through the middle. Has been at Athletic for six years now, playing nearly 250 games for the first team, and needs a new challenge at the age of 21. Played 66 minutes in their 1-1 draw. FRANCE – PSG v Nantes Edinson Cavani: If Liverpool are on the look out for a new striker, Cavani is a viable option. Disgruntled in recent months in the French capital, the 27-year-old has been in the shadow of star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He scored first in PSG’s 2-0 win in the cup. ITALY – Parma v Chievo Ezequiel Schelotto: Bottom met third-from-bottom in Serie A, with the 25-year-old the best player on show. Known as El Galgo – or the greyhound – for his running style and speed, the tall wide man is well worth a look. He played the full 90 minutes in Chievo’s 1-0 win. PORTUGAL – Benfica v Vitoria de Setubal Anderson Talisca: The 21-year-old has scored nine goals in 20 league appearances and has been earning rave reviews since moving from Brazilian side Bahia in the summer. Scored a penalty in this cup game, which Benfica won 3-0, and his efforts as an attacking midfielder caught the eye. - I still put my bet on Sergio Romeiro.
Fred Talbot must be feeling under the weather round about now, the perv has been found guilty as charged.
LUKAKU OUTLINES FUTURE PLANS Romelu Lukaku says his ambitions are to play for a top club like Chelsea again after leaving Stamford Bridge for Everton in the summer. The 21-year-old fired a blank against his former employers in midweek as Everton were beaten 1-0 but Lukaku outlined his long-term plans afterwards. “It was brilliant to play at Chelsea and I had a good reception,” he is quoted as saying by The Sun. “They know I’m a good player but that I want to develop so I can eventually get back to playing for a club like Chelsea. “I don’t have a secret ambition to rejoin — there are other clubs in the world. I just want to grow as a player and eventually arrive at a top club again.” ------------- Bit **** of him to say that when you consider 1) how **** he's playing atm, he needs to just concentrate on playing football. 2) Everton rescued him from the hell hole that is Chelsea and now he's talking about potentially playing for them again.
