The Tories propped up by UKIP is the real nightmare imo. That's what this board seems to favour.:emoticon-0107-sweat

Slightly off topic but worth a mention, a new version of spitting image will return to ITV very soon. I miss that show and so many current politicians are screaming out for the spitting image treatment.

Russell Brand, Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson must prepare to have their strings yanked as some of the talent behind Spitting Image reunite for a new prime time puppet show.

Well, whoever forms the next government will be propped up by one or more of the other parties as no-one is looking anywhere near an outright winner.

There are facets of each party that I agree with but none enough to vote for. Is it me or do they live on another planet?...

Just come back from seeing Al Murray the Pub Landlord live. A very funny and very clever man, considering moving to South Thanet so I can vote for him.

That campaign should be very entertaining. Do you think the South Thanet voters will be able to discern the subtle differences between Murray and Farage?

There was a young teacher in the school my wife works in that actually thought he was a serious candidate, tells you all you need to know about education in this country...

Actually that's a bit of a worry. I'm never sure whether some members of the audience at his shows realise it's satire.

His routine on economics and the markets in this show is very good.

That's always been the case. Many sixties bigots thought that Alf Garnett was speaking for them, rather than ridiculing them.

There was a spoof documentary on iPlayer about young voter engagement in politics, Farage dresses up as a builder to try and avoid getting spoofed while making a run for it.

Don't worry we just need enough of them to scare the main parties into serving us rather than themselves. Well that's the plan anyway.

I voted for the party I would have voted for had I still been living there
I think I still might be allowed to vote there but never have as I dont think people living abroad should be allowed to vote on things that don't effect them
having said that in about 20 years I might join in on the pension indexing debate

Never in my time of voting have I seen such inept party leaders...it is so worrying.
I have voted for the party that represents my view of the world...not for a person I think can implement the ideas

Luckily for the opposite, the parties that have opposing views to mine, also do not have leaders that can implement their ideas

we are in a political void

Trouble is unless you change your citizenship you may not be able to vote where you now live. I can't vote in government elections in Norway (only local ones) as I still have a UK passport, and I been living away from the UK way too long to vote there (I think there is a limit of 10 years away to vote in the UK, there was anyway). It means I cannot vote anywhere, which is not really democratically correct, but if I was too bothered about that, I could change my citizenship. So I'm the proud owner of the too mad to vote, vote - I'm surprised there aren't more in that situation on here!! It looks like you should be too Kiwi, or aren't you mad enough!

I find it interesting that 10% say they will not vote, but vote in this poll.

I can only assume one of two things:-
    a) Stan is very persuasive and should be appointed to increase general election turnouts.
    b) The means of voting is too cumbersome for people to justify spoiling ballot papers (ie it's a lot easier to vote on here).

e-voting is on its way Matt. As the fraud commited through postal voting in Birmingham and East London shows, any system is open to corruption.

The 'will not vote' numbers on here are very low. 35% of the electorate did not vote in 2010, and I wouldn't be surprised to see this sadly higher this time, given the choices on offer.

If a Milliband/SNP coalition gets in, Nicola Sturgeon won't give a flying fc uk about anyone outside Scotland. She'll be about self-interest only. It'll be win-win for her. She'll get extra privileges for the Scots (in addition to the £1600 per head privileges that Scots currently get over the English) and when she's thoroughly p*ssed the English off after a 5 year parliament, they'll be only too pleased to grant Scotland independence
