Just thinking out loud Matt, my idea being that imo Shelvey plays better the further up the pitch he is so, by my very flawed logic, shove him up top and see what he becomes; it would keep his girlfriend happy anyway. I'm missing the behind the scenes stuff'n'goss at the mo', Is Emnes injured still? if not I agree he should be a shoe in to start now. We're currently riding the elephant in the room although some are exploiting or ignoring the obvious to happy slap Monk or Jenkins or the board, whoever is in their sights, or to simply hijack decent debate about our club through PM fuelled agendas. What they are ignoring is the true reason for our poor form. We all know it, every one of us, we've lost our target, our talisman, our "difference maker". Nothing else has changed, were doing the same things, we're playing the same way but with Gomis in place of Bony, there is no end product. With Bony in our team every man jack of us knew we had a chance as we were always capable of scoring, now, no one, even the players, are not so sure. Imo the team hasn't been affected so much by Bony leaving; we and they all knew it would happen sooner or later, but more by how embarrassingly poor Gomis has been since Bony's departure. No one saw that coming and its stiffling us to the extent that up front, no one knows what to do because no one knows where Gomis is or will be or where he's running to or who he's hiding behind. Bony was reliable, a locked and loaded sticky target oozing with focused intent. He was a target man accessible to all, a striker who banged in opportunities others couldn't see and he played for the team and the shirt. All this effort, energy, talent and of course goals, has been replaced by an absolute nothing of a player. With Bony we always had a chance but with Gomis we have none, no target, no hold up, no goals, no hope. I don't trust him to score the simplest tap in at the moment and is it me or is he getting worse each game? That's what's happened to us, nothing else so c'mon Monk, change it up. Drop Gomis now, give someone, anyone a chance. Send on Shelvey's girlfriend, at least she cares enough to comment.
Stumy agree with nearly all of this, but if you look at Olivieras career has all been played as a striker. So why not give him a go. could he do any worse than our so called striker.
Excellent post but a worrying comment from Shelveys girlfriend which could indicate that she's not the only one who thinks similar negative thoughts . Gomis knows there's pressure on him and seems to be trying too hard (if that was ever a contradiction in terms I don't know what is ) I like Oliviera because he does drag defenders around the edge of the area which in turns opens up space to exploit but we're nervous of making those darting runs which had proved so effective previously.
Saw these comments on the Planet Swans site about Gomis "He has had 43 shots and no goals" "His only goal is from a header" Is it time to stop making excuses, it would appear that in the PL, Gomis can't cut it?
How many times do we cross the ball in the air? He's probably 100% from in-the-air crosses. Maybe we're not playing to his strengths (I'm just playing devil's advocate)
The reason for not crossing is the lazy git is actually never in the box he is always on the edge, makes no effort to get in there. It is pointless blaming others for his inadequacies.
Maybe third,if he's still here. Had a txt from a mate working in Amsterdam says word there is that we are interested in a Polish 20 year old CF,Arkadiusz Milik. Mate says he's playing for Ajax at mo on loan from Leverkusen.
Yep - it appears that we have to pay him £2m a season for 4 seasons. So we would still owe him £6m at the end of this season.....
That is ****ing frightening, whoever authorised that sort of money and that sort of contract needs shooting.
