I think you will find in most cases it has little or nothing to do with TF's money.

Typical Guru pontification, proving once again our friends from down South have no idea what they're talking about!

I don't 'hate' the guy Guru, to 'hate' is to wish harm or worse and I certainly don't wish that on him. Personally I think leaving us when he did for whom he did was a disaster waiting to happen. Aston Villa still seem to think they are a 'big' club that should be competing at the very top when that is simply just not the case anymore. As Supers has intimated on another thread, they are a car crash of a club and he should have bided his time and waited for a more stable club to take him on. As I have said previously, when he left he said that there where "things the fans didn't know" but he failed to tell the fans that idolised him exactly what that was or even hint what it was and left under a cloud.
Yes, I did want him to fail after that, am I bitter ? Twisted ? Ungrateful ? Perhaps I am but I was naive enough to believe at the time that because we took a chance on him, because we as fans idolised him perhaps, just perhaps we had a manager who bucked the trend and would show us more respect before he moved on.
He was good for us, great for us and had he not taken the reigns when he did we may even have gone into administration who knows ? But one thing I do know is that as much as he was good for us, we were just as good for him.
Many are cynical with regard to managers and players these days especially at the top level but there are always those who are an exception to the rule and we have had two such players at our club in recent years, Darren Huckerby and Grant Holt so l'm not going to tar all with the 'Paul Lambert' brush <ok>

I'm sorry Guru, but for me (and I'm sure most of the other NCFC fans on here) it's nothing to do with TF's money, but all to do with how they thought they thought they could stay in the PL last time round by signing players with wct (or should that be players who had wct, but were now past it!!) and were only signing up for QPR because of the ridiculous salaries they were being offered.

If you care to check back through some of my previous posts, you'll see that I said how glad I was that our board rejected his advances long before he took over at Loftus Road!!!!

I don't ever recall any of their fans making out they were going to dominate English/European/World football on getting promoted to the PL (not relevant in Bournemouth and Forest's case) and having millions pumped in to their club.

Indeed, the Leicester fans, and Hull fans have been pretty down to earth about it, on the whole

tbh, How many QPR made those remarks Thai?

And in all seriousness, you guys were making quite a few noises like that when signing a certain striker. And look how that turned out!

The overwhelming majority on Not 606 Guru, no kidding. They had so swallowed the spin coming from TF about global branding, and aiming for a top 8 finish at the first attempt, it was ridiculous. Most have come down to the planet Earth now thankfully.

A few were I will not deny, but most knew that 17th was a major achievement, as it will be next season should we bounce back.

tbh, having had 2 decent seasons, getting a 'goalscorer' should have helped to improve the team and nudge up the league. Had he scored 15+ it may have happened, but he didn't

I am absolutely AMAZED that nobody seems to remember the "Faurlin" saga that was the major cause of the fall out with the Steptoes, the false accusation from pretty much all of them that we were praying for them to be deducted points and so miss out on promotion was laughable! Only one "so-called" Norwich fan stated that, that was Whole_lot_of_Holt, who I'm convinced is actually a Townie!

    I remember it well.

The QPR fans were such a pain. I'm still banned from their board! They never explained why.

The problem was they saw us as promotion rivals but kept telling us they had more money and bigger ambitions than us.

They still have, only their ambitions are not realistic for the size or stature of the club.

The dream of turning a small club in to the next Man City takes more than just a huge cash injection - as they now realise :emoticon-0148-yes:

I know Guru of Ipswich think he's being smart and baiting us etc, he just making himself look a bit silly.

A lot of teams took a dislike to QPR, not just NCFC. They went up too arrogant thinking they were going to be in the top 4 in their first season, the media was hyping them up massively. If they actually invested that money into younger players with potential instead of has been players, then maybe they would have warranted that hype. But that was a couple of years ago, I no longer care how well they do.

As for Lambert, I do feel sorry for him, but I felt at the time a move to Villa wasn't the best thing to do. He should have stayed with us for another season or 2 and wait for a better club to come in for him.

I wouldn't be so sure about being banned still, not that there is much point going on the QPR board.

And although not quite the same senario but similar, PSG, Monaco and you could even say Chelsea and Manchester City have the same problem with their desire to be mega clubs. No matter how much money they throw around they're never going to be a 'Real Madrid', 'Manchester United', Barcelona or Bayern Munich IMO. Arsenal have been competing in the Champions League ever since it's inception but have never won it and are still arguably not considered to be in the top ten. <ok>

Completely agree. He could be looking at the Newcastle job right now which, although it has many of the poisoned chalice elements that Villa has, at least isn't quite so bad...
