I was watching the Wednesday night phone-in on MUTV and the general consensus there was that DW was not going to make it at MUFC.
I strongly disagree with this, I remember the first time I watched him play for our Academy, he stood out head and shoulders better than anyone else on the park, I thought to myself that we could have a cracker on our hands.Since then he has won every award going at junior/reserve level at United, represented his country at every level, impressed on loan at Preston and then excelled at Sunderland last season.

My question is, Whats not to like about this kid?He is a local lad, extremely talented, supports the club, great attitude and never any front page headlines and most importantly the manager rates him very highly according to Steve Bruce(who would have him back at Sunderland in a heartbeat).

What more does he have to do?

It seams strange to me that everyone falls over themselves in praise of "the Barca way", how they promote from the Cantera ready made first team players who are dye in wool Barca, who will run themselves into the ground for FCB.Yet dismiss our youth as not good enough before they have been given a chance and then bemoan the lack of loyalty in the game. Are these really Manchester United fans?Do they know anything of the History of our great club? How the Babes caught the imagination of the Nation and Europe? How we were never going to win anything with kids?

Our club was built on giving youth its chance, it made us an attractive proposal to the best young players(Sir Bobby being a perfect example) so in return we must give them their opportunity to shine. There are some real quality players coming through our system at present, Morrison, Tunnicliffe, Pogba, Keane, Petrucci, Brady and Cole, to cherry pick the best. With some others not far behind them, the future looks very bright for the next generation.Support the young lads coming through, they are our future.

He's worth you having on the bench for a few years to see if he improves. He looks a good player but needs to improve physically.

Welbeck will end up being Berbatov's replacement, even though they play differently.

I think he should go back out on loan.

I think the consensus on here is that Welbeck DOES have an United future. I made an article a week or two ago about Macheda and mentioned Welbeck and Diouf and most people would include Welbeck as part of our strikeforce for next season. The only issue is what is his best position! I see a tinge of Henry about him and could be most effective as a wide forward, a bit like Ronaldo. But his ability on the ball and his goals in the U21 euros last month indicated that he can be a centre forward. Scored a few headers at his time at Sunderland so I have said that he will have a role similar to Berbatov where his ability on the ball and magic can be used to good effect.

Its the difference between Liverpool and Manchester United. We're in a rebuilding process to we can afford a few mistakes along the way, Manchester United are expected to win things every year so they haven't got space for players who might be a gamble.

If you guys dont want him, i'd love to see him at the Sunderland again!
He was exceptional for us last season after a slow start. He's still got to improve on his finishing, but im sure he'll become an England regular in the future!

As far as his best position's concerned i'd definatly play him as a striker.

Are expected by who? What exactly happens if we fail to meet this expectation? Any actual fans wouldn't mind a season winning nothing rebuilding the team. As for Welbeck I'd say he does have a future at United. Maybe he won't dislodge Rooney or Hernandez in the first 11 but we need more than 11 good players at the club. Send him on loan to Sunderland for another season, then give him a chance. He looks OK to me and what's the point of having a youth system if the kids are never given chances in the first team

Who changed the title of my article(originally "Danny Welbeck") and in doing so managed to spell Manchester incorrectly?

I fixed the typo in the title.

Definately Welbeck. Sadly macheda just hasn't improved very much at all since his debut and his loan spell was pretty bad.

No room for sentiment boys. I think he is a 'good' player but I don't think he will ever make the grade at United as a first team regular and I think it's just a matter of time before he leaves so he can get regular first team football

Hi guys - Sunderland fan here...

Danny really did grow as a player last season at Sunderland and towards the end of the season when he was injured you could clearly see what was missing from the side.

He got a lot stronger (mental and physically) the more he played, and I feel that if he stayed at you he would go backward because he's in that position where he's at a top European Club and he's not at that level yet. And he really does need to play and he won't.

But I could clearly see it in him and thee is something about the lad. When we played Chelsea away they couldn't deal with him. Yes they had a poor back four for that game but he still had to do a job. From that game till he got injured he was un-playable at times and this was partly the reason we went backwards because he gave us a hell of an outlet with his pace.

Yes this is a Sunderland team and the gulf in sides are different but we can all see things in players and Danny has something.

I hope he get his chance and if he doesn't we'd take him back for another season.

Good luck this season and thanks for the duo - really happy with them.

Listen, Welbeck is rubbish. Cant hit a barn door with a banjo. Can you all tell SAF this and tell him that if he is lucky we may take him off your hands?

Okay, have they stopped reading? Fellow mackems, lets hope this works and they dont find out that we'd absolutely love to have Danny boy back at the SOL. Cracking little player and great appetite for the game for a young lad. Twice the player Sturridge is for me in ability and attitude, which probalbly means a wise old fox like SAF knows that too.

I'd settle for another year on loan though?

I think they both have the talent to make it at United. Don't think Kiko has the mentality to make it. He'll always been in the shadow of that Villa goal.

Welbeck went on loan and proved that he's class. Kiko should go on loan to a PL club this season it will probably help him like it helped Welbeck.
