    Are you guys for real?

He's 32 in a few months, he's very injury prone, and you guys have just agreed to pay him his bumper wage for the next FOUR YEARS, up until he's almost 36. No wonder he's signed. He's hit the jackpot.

Masturbate over the small signing fee all you like. It's a very poor financial decision for a player who really isn't any better than your current crop of defenders.

At 1 million i think we could have this years Titan (providing he stays fit). I like Wes Brown but he always seemed to be the nearly man for Man Utd and England and injuries always slowed him down. Also, before Vidic was brought in he was Ferdinands main centre half partner.

I really dont care what that ginger ****er has to say. I know my club have just pushed the boat out this summer to try and put right the poor show last season and I am delighted with ALL the signings? ALL of them.

I support a club that has proved it has the ambition and the determination to try and compete at this level and I can ask no more of them.

Well apart for N'Zog and another proven striker. Lol

I don't, but he's at the age now where he can be paid a good wage respective of his ability. However, as it gets to 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36, the value for money will nosedive, yet he'll still be on his 31 year old player wage, which I imagine is definitely not small considering that he's contracted to Man Utd for the next two years.

Let me tell you something about Sir Alex. He's one of the best managers in history and he's a REALLY, really smart bloke. If he's willing to sell a player (especially for such a low fee), then there's a very, very good reason why.

I'd be distraught if we signed a 31/32 year old injury prone player for four years, but then again, us mags have become used to watching our pennies perhaps more than Sunderland have, so as long as Short keeps pumping the cash in, there's not much to be arsed about, is there?

Says the person who's manager has just gave an injury prone guy who is almost 32 a four year contract.

<doh> just doesn't quite cut it.

Seriously, none of you think this is a pretty iffy deal?

I think spending time on the Sunderland board talking about Sunderland signings is very real. Take a look chap and see how bitter and twisted a once respected poster is now sounding. So bad that this is my last reply to you son.

I agreed with the bitter and twisted bit, but "once respected"?...Ha'Way Syd...Chappaz has never wavered in his slagging off of everything Sunderland.

    Thank **** for that.

I usually like to keep my cool but I'm just completely baffled at how so many mackems can be jumping for joy at signing a near 32-year old injury prone defender (who isn't even that good) for a 4 year deal.

I'm going to lose faith in humanity unless at least ONE level-headed Sunderland supporter can see where I'm coming from here.

Come on. Does anyone else think that this very possibly, might just be a bit of an iffy deal?

Stop your moaning man. I've came here with some clear and logical reasons why I don't think it's a good deal, but when they disagree with your views, you throw massive childish hissy fits.

Not one Sunderland fan has yet to counter my very fair points in a constructive way, it's just name calling.
