Nice little stroll down memory lane there,London.

We used to loiter near the traffic lights in Morriston, waiting eagerly, nay desperately, for the Evening Post van to come down Woodfield Street.
It became a badge of honour to be the one who got first sight of it.
Win,lose,or draw,The Sporting was a MUST HAVE on Saturday nights.
Cardiff had the Pink Echo, but we had Bill Paton. <laugh>

"Fish sticks". Probably the most disgusting food ever offered to the public. I use the word food in it's broadest sense.

I thought that was his signing on fee, he's getting paid on top of that!

He is absolutely rubbish, as our main striker he has to be the worst we have had. I would actually try anybody up there in place of him.

Yeah but on the £/goal thread I couldn't include the wages for all of our strikers of the last 10-15 years as I simply don't have the data.
Our budgets have obviously fluctuated along with our income, it's all relative.
Without all of the data a crude estimate of the strikers' value for money based on transfer fee (which a signing on fee is a substitute for in this instance), goals scored and profit/loss on the trade was all that was possible.
    ;)

    Absolutely TLF

Gomis just flails about like a kid who can't swim.

Emness, Donnelly, Barrow, Oliveira all would do a better job imo.

    Leftfield, Shelvey?

I would like to see Oliviera and Siggy, they can swap around and both have better movement, both also make more effort to get in the box. I am sure this as a partnership could work, well it couldn't be any worse.

I have lost complete patience with Gomis, his performances are pathetic, I however have lost as much patience with GM for continuing to play such an inept striker. Come on Monk show us you have some balls and drop him or are you scared of upsetting him, alternately has HJ told you to play him.

Like it or not Gomis is our best striker but he needs to be one of a pair - failure to bring in better in January was a mistake (as was not selling Gomis imo). Our midfield is now absent to such a degree our strikers have to drop back too far or remain isolated and out of the game. Our full backs, evidently, aren't encouraged to get forward. Cork and Naughton need time to 'bed in' but the difference in Dyer when Rangel came on v Sunderland was remarkable.
The answer? No idea. It's beyond saying change one player for another as the rot seems to be throughout the squad ATM.
If Gore is the type of player who will make an effort and work even if he doesn't score, maybe he should be given a chance because Gomis and Oliviera aren't producing the goods either.

Absolutely sure Phil, Fed up with him, get rid of him to I don't care where. Would rather play anyone, I would even get Donnelly back and play him.

That is exactly right. If he had got his head down and kept his very large trap shut when playing second fiddle to Bony and was now struggling I think people may have given him a bit more time. He decided to tell everyone how good he was and that he wanted to go to a top 4 side and play champion league, well what he has shown is top 4 but League of Wales and no more.

This is similar to the conclusion that I have reached - should we now contemplate playing with a False 9?

Rather than persist with Gomis, we could either play with both Siggy and Jonjo, or play 3 wingers - all rotating, but with one central - behind Siggy. (Emnes is injured at present.)

It has worked for Spain - why not give it a whirl?

It worked for us with Sinclair and Borini.

    ...............................Fab
    Rangel ......... Fed .........Ash............Naughton
    ..............Leon / Cork........ Carroll
    Dyer ....................Ki............... Montero
    ................Siggy........Oliviera

Surely we have enough quality in those players to compete with any team outside the top two?

At least up top although not strikers, both get in the box more than the idiot up there now. I actually believe we would be more of a goal threat playing with Siggy and Oliviera.

That would be leftfield , no imo , not disciplined or fit enough to work the opposition defence .Emnes would be a more balanced player in as much Gomis was caught too many times last night flat footed and didn't appear to be mobile enough .He has good touch and turns well but he just doesn't do it enough .Oliveria I'd like to see more of , he has commitment , looks to play the ball and has an eye for goal all of which may not be enough but he was brought to the club as a striker so why not try him .

Whatever anyone thinks gomis is certainly not Rubbish, He is a quality player who is having trouble with the way we play and once monk finds the right way to use him he will be fine. You dont have his goal scoring record or bigger teams than us interested in him if he was rubbish....so that's bollocks for a start. He may never fit in with us but that dont make him rubbish and all we can do is keep on playing him in the hope he finds some form. If we were fighting relegation then we would have to do something but as we are not monk will be forced to play him...He has the skill at the end of the day.....We need to bring that skill out....
