Thought we missed Bertrand/Targett at left back aswell. The system we play means the full backs are very important in our attacks and Yoshida, whilst fine defensively, isn't good enough on the ball to be a danger in an attacking role at LB. But yeah these things happen, hopefully the Liverpool game will be more open which should suit us better.
Well that was frustrating. But can't fault the effort of the players, just wasn't our day. Oh, and to top off the frustration, for some inexplicable reason there were roadworks on the M3 for a good mile or 2 restricting the traffic to one lane. And no roadworks were going on. Just empty lanes. ****s sake. Feel sorry for FLT who has to go all the way back to Northampton.
That's always the case with teams like ourselves that don't have the absolute world class players to hand (that's not a criticism by the way at all). I defy any team in the world to find it easy to work a way through 9 players in the box though! As Tom rightly says, just wasn't our day. Out of ten, my worry-meter level is about 0.5
Just wish sometimes they'd ****ing shoot. Numerous occasions it was one pass to many, attack stone dead. Guhhhh
There were some that were ranting about Manes substitution (including Radio Solent!), it was obvious that he was one more mistimed tackle away from a red card and with this inconsistent Referee in my opinion it was the smart move.
West Ham's Adrian sent off - for being a goalkeeper: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/west-hams-adrian-sent---5148105
Yeah that's what Ronald was pretty much saying post-match. He sounded a lot more critical than I've been in fairness too!
Which is why we should have given ourself the best chance possible. If they are inviting balls into the box then it is a no brainer to put jwp right wing and tadic left wing. Tadic is atrocious at crossing on the right and brilliant on the left.
usually I'd agree ,but the change came after the red card for Adrian. Leaving him on was a risk worth taking
I don't think he'd have got sent off. An attacking player can decide to stop diving in, all it would have taken was for someone to tell him to calm down. generally taking a player of on a yellow is something done for a defensive player. If a defensive player is getting terrorised he HAS TO make challenges. As an attacker11 vs 10 against a team parking the bus he could easily have been careful. 3 points were there for the taking. We would still be decent with tadic and Elia on the flanks if he did happen to miss Liverpool Edited a typo (it's in caps)
I am not intending to get drawn into a long drawn out argument, so just accept it was my opinion and I am probably out of order.
Just got back.... We played fairly well. Not excellent, not poorly. We didn't shoot enough or take the chances that were there to take. We really missed Bertrand in the final 30 yards (Maya played well though defensively). Ron needs to just do a couple of things in training around the penalty box: 1. Shooting session 2. No more "10 passes a goal sessions" Ref was **** Traffic was **** Motorway agency are knobs Most disappointing of all for me was the fight that broke out between two pairs of saints fans near me. No need. I take my son to a game to watch football, not see grown men lose their cop and scrap with their own teams fans. If you can't handle your drink, don't drink at a game.
By the way, loved the "you're just a **** Rickie Lambert" chant to Carroll. Good work! You're right FLT, the red was almost comically poor today.
I suppose a change of rules where no more than six defenders can be in the Penalty Box at one time, might create a bit of space for a shot or two?
