Despite our points, we have been playing poorly for awhile. Even when we have drawn or won our performances have not inspired confidence. Welsh commentators said WBA looked more creative... and to me it doesn't look like we can control possession.

we used to entertaining to watch ... very sad to see this deterioration.

WBA 2-0 and Pullis barking orders while Monk looked on silently..I hope we have done enough to secure survival but the board need to reflect on their action over last couple of years... something has gone badly wrong.

You said 'banker'. Make your mind up.

Tony Pulis coming in has transformed the WBA side that has been in a dogfight all season. He did the same at CP too. Tactically, he is superior to Monk. If it wasn't for his brand of football, I'd have Pulis with us tomorrow.
In place of Monk?

The one thing I have to ask is something aimed at Dai. Who used to have a go at our last manager for not barking orders on the touchline, and praised Monk for doing it when he first came here.

Are you going to criticise him now? Like you did our previous manager? For doing the exact same thing? Nothing on the touchline

The lions share of the game again and just 3 shots on target. there are to many new guys that need time to gel. Result not that unexpected with them being on home turf and quite happy with the performance but the final third and finishing needs some work on. We are still in 9th so cant complain..<ok>

He looked totally lost out there tonight.

We are a very very predictable team.Opposition managers read us like a book and set their stall out.
We are 12 points from the relegation places. If we go down from this position we deserve it.
I believe we will be ok.
My concern is next season in the Prem.If GM is in charge, and I personally don't think he will be,we will struggle big time.

How can he say our defence is sorted when we have conceded 19 goals in our last 11. Thats more than Southampton have conceded all season!

Something desperately needs to change. Foster would have had his easiest game all season today.

How do you account for 34 points then. ??? Are you just looking at the negatives and not the obvious positives. We would not have been in the top half all season if things are as bad as some make out.....

Pulis is never going to set the world on fire, but he has enough organizational savy to out organize us .... and that's the crux of the situation.

Monk didn't even try a third sub when it was pretty obvious to everybody that Gomis wasn't going to be our secret sauce to pull this game out of the fire.

The best Monk could do would be to put more quality on the field in the shape of Carroll and take off Gomis, move Oli forward to take over from Gomis, move Ki forward to take over from Oli. GIVE the ****ing ball to Montero, tell Taylor to stop overlapping, getting in the way and forcing Montero go inside onto his weaker foot, and let Monty skin the back.

Why is this so ****ing easy to see from my sofa.

Cos he's full of it?

Only seeing it on TV but tonight I thought we lost to the better team. Some of our passing in the first half was a bit more like our old selves.

Fab 6 – generally sound but might have done better with their second.

Naughton 6 – got out of position quite a bit and got skinned but solid (ish)

Fed 5 – all over the place

Ash 6 – some poor positional play and passing

Taylor 7 – got skinned a few times but had no support in front of him. Good attacking and passing.
My MoM <yikes>

Dyer 6 – tried hard and made some good attacks let down by not having targets to hit in the box.

Cork – 6 got involved a bit and got bypassed a lot.

Ki 6 – didn’t get involved a great deal possibly because the ball spent so much time at or above head height.

Shelvey 5 - another meaningless 60 odd minutes

Montero 7 - took his man on and crossed a few times and was our best hope of cracking their cover defence, but was worked out and although lively proved ineffective.

Gomis 4 - previously he’s offered something by coming back to pick the ball deep and by taking defenders away to create space, tonight he didn’t even do that.

But he will have to play Saturday as it looks like Oliviera may get a ban!

Subs had no impact.

A poor performance and well beaten by a largely poor team.

Monk needs to read the riot act after that.

Ever heard of the term winning ugly? Its a phrase sometimes used for the better teams do when they have an off day but still get a result. I feel like nearly all our results this season barring a very few have been done in this manner. Agonising ground out results that have not at all been pleasing on the eye and leaves a bitter taste in the mouth afterwards. Hull away, Villa home, Southampton away. All our last 3 wins, all bloody painful to watch.

I have never felt our defence was solid, always flaky on flanks but the mainstay of our defence was keeping possession and certainly not given it away in our half. In order to increase our creativity we began to make higher risk, higher reward passes in opposition half. Now we give away the ball too easily and don't seem to have the players or players haven't developed the understanding to make these passes.
