Jelavic has scored 7 goals this season. Ings the next big thing has 8, Berahino has played for England and scored 9. Only 3 people in the bottom half of the table have scored more this year. Benteke has scored 2 and is supposedly worth 20m+ I know we all want more from our strikers but in comparison to other teams around us he is doing easily good enough.
As an odd stat for goalscoring. Despite being promoted 4 times in the last 15 years we haven't had a striker score 20 league goals in a season since before USA '94 (Elliott was a winger, Alexander had at least 5 in cup games).
Possibly why so many seem content to accept poor goal returns as 'fantastic' or at least 'acceptable'.
In 93/94 (all competitions), but I couldn't see how many were League goals and how many Cup goals. Before that it's Payton (again I don't know how many Cup goals) and Edwards (26 league goals) for more than 20 in all competitions.
