She believes that the English are totally incapable of doing anything practical. That suits me fine, though I sometimes have to dig the holes when the ground is particularly rocky. She is also a landscape architect so she has a vision in mind when she starts these jobs.

Morning all, a bright sunny start to the day, but a heavy overnight frost in rural France. Despite the cold, signs of Spring are around with early flowering bulbs showing colour. I need to get some covering up this week to try and warm the soil in preparation for some salad plants that will soon be able to be planted under cloches. Have a good day! :emoticon-0100-smile

In case anyone's interested it's raining in Nuwara Eliya! We hiked 10k at 7000 feet above sea level this morning, sometimes in Sun, sometimes in the clouds. Rice and curry (which here means at least 6 dishes) will follow shortly.

Good evening all. Cold here in Jersey and I imagine it will be in IoM at the weekend for the wedding of one of my friends from Uni. I fly out on Thursday afternoon, going to Gatwick from here and then the flight to IoM is from London City. It'll be about 10 by the time I get to the hotel in Douglas.

Dave, it always seems to be cold in Weston-super-Mare. If it is so cold why do you go outside at some unearthly hour in the morning to find out?

The USA is taking action against Ísland because of the whaling industry. Secretaries of State have to boycott Ísland and events with our representation. Also Ísland has the invitation to Oceann Conference withdrawn. This sounds a little weak to me and perhaps the USA should look at some of their problems first.

We are shaking in our boots.<yikes>

Yala Nature Reserve today. Elephants, water buffalo, monkeys, exotic birds...but no leopard. Maybe tomorrow. We start out in a jeep at 5,30 am.

Get Dave to give you an alarm call, he'll have been up ages by then.

Thanks for the Coffee AK but hold the Whale Meat (don't want to upset the Americans)

Quite right too - I hate to think what percentage of the world's problems lies squarely at their doorstep...

Half coffee and half whale meat?
