"Nigel Pearson has done a great job with Leicester. I'm surprised this team is bottom of the league. If they can keep calm and believing in what they are doing, I think they will get out."
If we'd won 3-2 and he said that, i'd believe it a whole lot more! We played well last night, but Pearson said it best when he had his post match interview, something along the lines of tired of paying well and getting nothing.
... true enough ... but there is a hell of a difference for me in watching several Leicester City relegation teams since the 1969/70 season and the current squad ... over that time turned up week after week hoping for real miracles because the team(s) were so poor ... with this lot there is a real difference ... undeniable quality in many areas, exciting young talent and potential match winners ... and I'd gladly pay my money just to watch Mahrez on his own ... ... time is against us - which is why I personally feel that Pearson has to play the strongest team in every game now bar injuries ... they need to build collectivism - have that familiarity that only comes from a regular settled team (barring injuries) ... ... has to start on Sunday ... too much rotation contributing to defeat will further damage our fragile morale but worse, put Villa into the quarter finals of the FA Cup releiving pressure from them and their manager ...we need to increase that whilst at the same boosting our own confidence and excitement ...
We've heard words like Wenger's many times before, and it is the same old story. I've sort of got to the point where I'm resigned to us going down playing decent football, as the real fans can see that the team are putting the effort in, but there are huge issues around the defence (why did he not start our only defender who's been playing well?). Two errors cost us again last night. That said, I like the 3 man defence but I think the personnel is wrong. I don't think Simpson and Konchesky are wing-backs. Konchesky was given far too much room and a quality wing-back or winger would have made something of this. My ideal team in this formation would look like this: Schmeichel/Hamer/Schwarzer (who knows, really!) Albrighton - Huth - Wasilewski - Upson - Schlupp James - Cambiasso Mahrez Ulloa - Kramaric I know that's an utterly ridiculous team really, but it could work. Perhaps switch Albrighton with De Laet.
We've only kept 4 clean sheets all season of which Hamer has 3! Given Marc Albrighton's missus' exhuberent tweet at the 'premature' news of Pearson's managerial demise, I have some doubts as to whether he will feature any time soon
Arsene Wenger said we need to stay calm, stick together and keep believing in what we are doing and we will stay up Theo Walcott couldn't believe we was bottom of the league and thinks if we carry on like that we will get out of it and said we are one of the best teams to come to the Emirates this season A lot of positives from last night but as Nigel said we can't afford to say that any longer unless were taking the points with us
When Sky rmis-reported Pearson's 'sacking' Nugent's missus tweeted that she was 'gutted' ... Albrighton's responded saying she wasn't - in fact she couldn't be happier ... or sentiments to that effect ...
