http://www.bristol-sport.co.uk/stadium/the-plan/progress-update/ The current situation of the rebuild.
Thanks for the update cidered. What are the plans for the lower tier, now removed, below the Dolman? Are they intending to continue the existing seats down to pitch level, or is there something else, and if my memory serves me correctly wasn't an issue with raising/lowering the pitch level involved? I just hope I can plan a trip to see the development in full but not quite sure when that would be. It looks like we will finally have a stadium worthy of the supporters who have endured second rate facilities for way too long.
First they cut out the vomitories for access into the toilet, refreshment and concourse, which will go all the way round to the new Williams. Then at end of season when the Williams has been demolished, 5 metres is added to the grassed area at the Williams side and actual playing area moved 2.5 metres toward Williams. Put the new front of Dolman seating in at the same rake as the rest of the stand. Also they will be extending the Dolman roof forward to cover the new rake of seating. Amended Dolman and newly built South Stand to be ready for start of next season.
Three questions As a short assed pensioner Dolman season ticket holder I know that if I get a 6 footer in front of me I cant see the whole pitch. Yet when I go to the Ricoh or Stadium MK my view is superb. Is this due to the height between the rows and has this been considered are the new heights the same? Or is the real issue the distance from the pitch? Also with East end I hear of delays because the wrong kind of steel was received. Is there any truth in this i.e. is the project on time? And lastly after a visit to the Stadium MK I would like a detailed summary of what parking arrangements are being considered as at the moment parking is nightmare and a right put off for some people
Looking at the height of the new South Stand, the size increase due in the new Williams (Grandstand) eventually and presumably the additional capacity there when the front of the Dolman is complete, including the 2.5 metre move, I'm very surprised that the overall ground capacity is only increasing by around 5,500 from what the ground held before the East End came down which was around 21,500 ?
Have faith Banksy, I said our pitch would be a plough ground by now. Also seem to remember I judged Elliott after 1 game.
Yes but you're used to being wrong.. I nearly was once, but it was a mistake on the other persons part in the end.!
Got to be honest I was seriously pissed off last night, five minutes to go at full time andmy view now is totally gone. And limited at the start of the game and both sides of half time. For the other 80 minutes I'm looking at the top of that staircase feeling like I'm banged up watching the game through railings. Left myself early as all I could see was the crowd going ooooh and cheering without a ****ing clue what's going on.
You have to bear in mind that the East End did hold a ridiculously high capacity for the size of the stand, as the seats were simply bolted onto the old terracing.
I'm going to be swapping seats, as I can't be having this missing parts of the game because people want to get home for their tea business! You pay your money stay in your seat until the ref blows full time, you don't leave a movie with five minutes left on it.
Bought tickets for Dolman stand for Saturday a while ago- They were for block J which has now been demolished. Had these replaced with 2 in block C- Got e mail today saying that we needed to be moved again in view of health and safety and would we move to Williams. Offered to give us free tickets and refund the Dolman ones. Happy if they do that every week!
