Can does all the hard work with a great run, then fluffs his shot out for nearly a throw I love watching Can pick up the ball in the middle and just drive forward, that's where the Yaya Toure comparison comes into it.. he's not that good but when he gets the ball and builds up pace he's bloody hard to stop.
Ref playing rugby union advantage here... Decides to pull the play back after a foul about 20 seconds ago
Mario closing down the CB, forcing him back to the keeper and forcing the keeper to rush the clearance. That's what will get the crowd liking him It's simple to get the fans on your side.. be a trier. Don't need to be a Ronaldo or Messi, just put in 100% every minute of every game
We deserved the win, despite Spurs playing well. The ref though, god awful, their 2nd should never have been and we could have had a penalty.
Good game that. Happy for Mario, Ibe had another great game, Can was immense as usual. Positive stuff.
Can't fault anyone... yes some players were a bit iffy but both teams served up a brilliant game of football. Defending was actually pretty good, just both teams hitting each other on the counter and both midfields were the weak point. Thought the worse 4 players on the pitch were Henderson Gerrard Mason & Benteleb which pretty much summed it up.
What a quality player he will turn into. Watching the likes of Henderson, Allen, Gerrard etc play in midfield has lowered the expectactions of some - Can is showing us what a good midfielder can do. Defend, and start attacks quickly, driving the team forward. The goal came from his composure in the middle by turning the player and creating space.
He lost control of the game as well.. ignoring the bad calls for the pens/free kicks... he booked 2 players early for niggly fouls and then had to constantly do it. I think there were probably only 2 deserved yellows in that game, Sakho & Rose who should have been booked early on but never was.
Yes, said it a few times, I wouldn't mind Lovren at RCB. He's right footed and screw all this (he played on the left for Saints crap) he'll be much more natural on the right. Allows Can to move into the middle as well where he is fantastic. I don't want to get carried away but I can see Can being a top top player for years to come. If he can develop his long range shooting, dare I say he's like a young Stevie G but with more power?
