4 year deal, 1 mil bargain please log in to view this image Wes Brown has completed his move to Sunderland from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee. The 31-year-old England international has inked a four-year contract with the Black Cats, on the same day that defensive colleague John O'Shea made the same switch. Brown made 361 appearances for United following dis debut in 1998. Sunderland boss Steve Bruce said: "We are delighted to welcome a player of Wes's ability, experience and character to the club." Brown's haul from his time at Old Trafford includes won two Champions League titles, five Premier League winners' medals, two FA Cups and two League Cups. He had been out-of-favour at his preferred centre-back slot for a few seasons, and has recently been behind Fabio, Rafael and often O'Shea for his secondary right-back slot. The new arrival of England Under 21 international Phil Jones effectively made him fifth or sixth choice centre-back and convinced him to move on. Bruce continued: "He has been a fantastic professional for Manchester United through the years and not only will he strengthen our defensive options, he will also bring with him a winning mentality and level of maturity which can only be positive for the players around him." Sir Alex Ferguson also praised a "loyal servant" as Brown left the club.
Confirmed on SAFC.com. A good signing although hopefully O'Shea will be confirmed soon as well! I do rate Brown but I'm hoping he doesn't force Bardo out of the starting 11 after the season Phil just had? Good cover in my opinion..
Syd where does it say a million? If Gibson was £5m and Brown was £1m that means we're paying £6m for O'Shea..!?
No doubt Durham will be slagging him off saying it's the worst move he could ever make as our fans are all ****ers and will slag him off - whilst I wasn;t keen on the 4 year deal, at £1m I will certainly not complain
Ah right well hopefully now the deals are being done individually, we're getting a bit of a better price as well..!? What do you reckon on the figure for O'Shea?
I;m shocked at 1m. That's unbelievable that...Ok not my first choice, but that's shrewd business that.
What Commachio said... Wasn't bothered either way, but £1million is incredible business. Welcome Wes
we could end up with Brown & O'shea for a combined £3/4 million! cracking business that, seems the £12 million was a media guess
