“I have no doubt that they need to win and I don’t even think that a draw is good for them." Despite their appalling away form I'd say Poyet's right with this, they need to find some wins from somewhere and will be targeting tonight. QPR have rotten home fixtures, including 4 local derby games ...... Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea & West Ham. The other two, Everton & Newcastle aren't easy games either. They have 8 away but only 6 at home ........ 4 of the away games are at relegation rivals, starting tonight. It's those '3 pointers' that they'll be going for IMO.
Funny enough the only time QPR beat us here was my very first match in May 1973 with the f a cup being paraded 0-3 was the score. Can we arrange a friendly against Newcastle on the tues after the cup final if we win the f a cup this season !. And talking about the fixtures, Hull have wicked home games left, but also Villa and QPR and us, Burnley have terrible fixtures coming up also.
i know its difficult not to, but we should stop worrying about other club's fixures for now. There are still 14 games to go and there'll be quite a few mad results coming through that blow predictions right out of the water. Win tonight and next week, we'll be on 30 points. The pressure will be off the lads to some degree, to get 10 or more from 12 games, massively do-able, and they can start to enjoy their football for the rest of the season.
We have possibly the easiest run in on paper - sadly we play on grass and that is, a lot of the time, where the issues come in!! Hoping they are not complacent tonight and go all out for it. Get a good win and a morale boosting and GD boosting result
Tonight is a game that historically we would royally f**k up in (playing a team at home that has lost every other away game). However, lets not forget the pressure is all on QPR as if they dont start picking up points they are down. Patience the key tonight.
Pick up by @Home_and_Away in 45 minutes. Just out the bath and knocking a quick bifta into me. Haway!
It's bloody tragic that the QPR owner is disrespecting the supporters with his latest tweet ......... "Think I have got my dream manager. Not what anyone thinks. Take a while. Still a bit to go but I'm very happy. Press all wrong." I'd be well pissed off if Short was announcing club business on a medium that not everyone can access. These are decent supporters who live for their club and are being tossed a few scraps. I know some people are a little frustrated with Short but he's a saint at the side of this fella.
Sunderland: Pantilimon, Reveillere, Vergini, O’Shea, van Aanholt, Bridcutt, Larsson, Gomez, Johnson, Wickham, Defoe. Subs: Brown, Fletcher, Graham, Alvarez, Coates, Agnew, Mannone.
Hard on Graham, he put a real shift in at Swansea but I'm pleased it's an attacking line up with strikers on the bench. I had thought this would be a game made for Alvarez but at least he can come on for Gomez after the break.
I think this will be a game where our subs make a massive difference....... Alvarez attacking tired defenders could be key. It'll be like a cup tie ............... QPR have no option but to open the game up and go toe-to-toe. It'll be a much more open game than many people imagine.
Yeah and he's easily been winning the fight. Alvarez has shown glimpses during the season of what he can do, recently he has started to show how good he really is and outstanding in the last couple of games. He's in top, top form and gets dropped. I personally think it's the wrong decisions but I'm not the one being paid to make these choices.
I look at the QPR team, see a few decent players but none that could really light a game up. Genuinely hope your right on this one though Smug! Think it will be tight though.
